I’m proud to present (probably?) the first Echo Spot to get a real bootloader unlock.

This one’s the 1st-gen Echo Spot (2017), codenamed "rook." Picked it up for 20 bucks and figured it’d be a fun little device to mess with.

There’s no firmware available for this thing anywhere, so @AntiEngineer helped me set up a usable dev environment. He added a button to short the eMMC clock (letting me easily enter bootrom mode) and exposed the UART pads so I can get real-time boot logs and debug the bootloader unlock exploit.

More to come soon.

An interesting old lightning prototype — Skittles B-2460.

It has a slightly different shape and the other end is just a 30-pin female port. However, it does not seem to do any IDBus negotiations.

Recent Windows 11 Insider builds have included references to a feature named "Taskbar Companion," indicating Microsoft's adding artificial intelligence directly to the taskbar. The company has removed these references from newer versions, likely to hide it during development. Implementation details remain unconfirmed.

A potential design involves a system tray icon that activates a contextual overlay, enabling direct access to AI assistance without using keyboard shortcuts, apps, or navigating menus. While third-party AI services are speculated, Microsoft is expected to prioritize its own Copilot platform.

The Taskbar Companion may serve as a more prominent entry point for Click to Do or similar screen analysis functionality. This fits Microsoft's intention to add various AI agents to to Windows, like they already did with the Settings app.

As per tipster Yogesh Brar, Poco will merge back into Xiaomi India since no one wants to lead POCO in India

(Likely due to Xiaomi trash work culture and pathetic management)

TeaOnHer, the app meant to combat the infamous "TeaApp", is also a giant dumpster fire. It has been compromised.

THE DEVELOPER MADE HIS PASSWORD TO THE ADMIN PANEL "Password1!". IT WAS STORED IN PLAIN TEXT ON THE LANDING PAGE.

WHAT THE FUCK.

Tricky Store OSS: A tricky of keystore they forgot to hide

Remember when someone said:
Due to the rampant misuse and the contributions received after open-sourcing being less than expected, this module will be closed-source

Translation: "Thanks for the PRs, I'll take it from here… behind locked doors."

- AOSP headers? Borrowed/License headers stripped.

- LGPLv3 library? Linked statically, license violated.

- "PRs welcome"? Sure — until it’s "all rights reserved."

Know more: https://github.com/beakthoven/TrickyStoreOSS/blob/main/docs/5ec1cff-violations.md

So I built Tricky Store OSS:

- 100% FOSS (GPLv3 licensed)

- Clean rewrite, not “borrowed or forked"

- Same features, less sus

If your keystore hack locks the source along with your bootloader... maybe it’s time for OSS.

Oppo K13 Turbo Series launched in India with 2MP useless camera for 450$

Oppo K13 Turbo series features an active cooling fan on the back with Rapid Cooling Engine. It has the thinnest built-in fan blades at 0.1mm, increasing air volume by 20% with the highest rotation speed up to 18,000RPM and improving heat dissipation efficiency by 3 times. In short, it's a 'gimmick'.

Common Specs:
• 6.8-inch (2800×1280 px) 1.5K Flat OLED display
• 120Hz refresh rate
• 1600nits peak brightness
• AGC DT-Star D+ glass protection
• LPDDR5X RAM
• 7000mm² VC cooling

• 50MP main (OV50D; OIS) + 2MP useless dual rear camera
(Yes, Oppo brought back 2MP garbage instead of offering 8MP Ultrawide)
• 16MP front camera (NO 4K)
• In-display fingerprint sensor
• Stereo speakers; IR Blaster
• Plastic build; USB-C 2.0
• Only Water resistant (IPX6/IPX8/IPX9)
• 7000mAh battery + 80W fast charging
NO NFC as usual

K13 Turbo:
• MediaTek Dimensity 8450 SoC
• UFS 3.1 storage
8GB+128GB= Rs. 27,999 (~320$)
8GB+256GB= Rs. 29,999 (~340$)
The 12GB + 256GB variants costs just 250$ in China and Oppo offered 8GB RAM variants in India that too for almost 350$.

K13 Turbo Pro:
• Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
• UFS 4.0 storage
8GB+256GB= Rs. 37,999 (~435$)
12GB+256GB= Rs. 39,999 (~455$)

Funfact: K13 Turbo Pro 12GB RAM variant in China costs just 278$ which Oppo is selling at 450$ in India and with that, Oppo K13 Turbo Pro is the world's first smartphone in 2025 to be priced at 450$ with 2MP useless camera and no ultrawide sensor.

Oppo has also introduced a Turbo cooling back clip that includes a back case and a cooling fan. With the phone and the cooling kit, it can reduce the temperature by up to 13°C. It costs Rs.3,999 (~45$).

This proves that Vivo just exist to dump smartphones in India because they already launched T4 Ultra at the same price which features Dimesnity 9300 Plus SoC, same cameras except ZEISS optics but with 100x Zoom and especially LPDDR5 RAM with UFS 3.1 storage unlike this V60.
