Forwarded from Mishaal's Android News Feed
Qualcomm just announced that its Snapdragon 8 Elite platform will be supported for "up to eight consecutive years of Android software and security updates."
"
The company worked with Google on this new program, which also extends to the next five generations of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 and 7-series mobile platforms. It's up to OEMs to take advantage of this program, though meaning 7 years of updates isn't guaranteed for any given device.
FYI: I detailed this new program (called Longevity GRF) in full back in October, in case you want to read more about what Google and Qualcomm have done.
"
What this means is that support for platform software included in this program will be made available to OEMs for eight consecutive years, including both Android OS and kernel upgrades, without requiring significant changes or upgrades to the platform and OEM code on the device (a separation commonly referred as “Project Treble” or the “vendor implementation”). While kernel changes will require updating kernel mode drivers, the vendor code can remain unchanged while the software support is being provided. This software support can lower costs for OEMs interested in supporting their devices longer and can show consumers the advantages of Snapdragon mobile processors and software support."The company worked with Google on this new program, which also extends to the next five generations of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 and 7-series mobile platforms. Nothing Phone 3a Series Essential Key Explained
Source
Nothing Phone 3a series will feature a dedicated button, called 'Essential Key' that will invoke Nothing's custom AI, housed within an app called “Essential Space.” which is an "AI-powered hub" to store digital content like screenshots, voice notes, and photos.
Press: Capture and send content directly to Essential Space.
Long-Press: Record a voice note.
Double-Tap: Access all saved content in Essential Space.
Inside the phone's native Camera app, you can single-press the Essential Key to click a photo.
This feature is basically similar to Google Pixel's exclusive Pixel screenshots as Essential Space can retrieve key information from the images saved online or summarize & transcribe your thoughts & record them, but comes with a dedicated button. Some features will even require signing into your Nothing Account and agreeing with their Terms & Conditions before using it.

Nothing smartphones cameras are so trash that they’re comparing them to the iPhone 16 Pro Max to fake impress
Nothing recently released a YouTube video, wherein they compared 400$ Phone 3a Pro cameras with 1200$ flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max. The comparison included 5 pics and 1 video. To make it look fair, Nothing even posted the google drive containing files in their original quality with the metadata of the pics, however with the video, metadata was stripped as it was later edited by davinci resolve studio.
With the food pic, Nothing "claimed" that they used iPhone's 5X Zoom, while with 3a Pro, they used 6X Zoom and still Nothing's image was "super stunning." Now if you look at the metadata:
iPhone 16 PM: f/1.78; 152mm
Nothing 3a Pro: f/2.55; 140mm
The catch is, iPhone 5X takes pic at 120mm on f/2.8 telephoto. Thus, Nothing deliberately used iPhone's main camera and took images at 6X~7X as it is 152mm and compared it to 3a Pro's Periscope telephoto shots.
