Realme’s 300W fast-charging tech showcased in video ahead of official reveal
Realme is launching ‘world’s fastest charging technology’ on August 14th. It’s rumoured that it will be Realme’s 300W fast charging technology. Although Xiaomi has already showcased 300W fast charging tech last year, but it is tipped that Realme's charging technology might be higher than 300W.
In the video below, Realme demonstrates its fast charging technology where a phone is plugged along with a timer next to it to show the charging time. The phone charges from 0% to 17% in just 35 seconds.

Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki died battling lung cancer
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared that Susan Wojcicki has died. She was 56yrs old and joined Google in 1999 as its 16th employee and first marketing manager. Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google in the Wojcicki garage.
Wojcicki co-created Image Search, oversaw advertising, and recommended the acquisition of YouTube which Google purchased for $1.65 billion. In February 2014, she became the CEO of the YouTube and remained until February 2023 as she stepped down to focus on “family, health and personal projects,” while remaining in an advisory role to “offer counsel and guidance across Google and the portfolio of Alphabet companies.”
Her husband Dennis Troper and Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that she had been battling non-small cell lung cancer for past 2yrs. In February 2024, Wojcicki’s 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, was tragically found dead in his dorm room likely due to drug overdose.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 4G launched as rebranded Snapdragon 662
Snapdragon 662 was announced 4yrs ago back in January 2020 and now in August, 2024, Qualcomm has launched it again disguised as Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 4G
Unlike MediaTek who actually announced MediaTek Helio 100 4G officially even though it was rebranded Helio G99 SoC only, Qualcomm is so shameful that it did NOT even dare to announce Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 officially. The world got to know about it when Oppo launched A3X 4G in Indonesia recently
Since the Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 4G model number is same as SD 662 i.e SM-6115, thus it should be safe to assume that 6s Gen 1 is also manufactured on 11nm process node in 2024

Microsoft is killing off Paint 3D after failing to replace classic Paint on Windows 11 and Windows 10. Paint 3D NO longer comes preinstalled in Windows 11 like other popular Microsoft apps, but it is available on the Microsoft Store.
But now if you open Paint 3D app on your Windows machine, it will display that "Paint 3D won't be available in Microsoft Store or receive future updates starting on November 4, 2024." Clearly, the app appealed to a small group of users, and Microsoft decided it was best to burn it with fire rather than maintain it.

For years, Google Pixels have only been sold online that too only through Flipkart e-commerce and not even on Amazon officially in India
But now, Google Pixels 9 series will be available to try in retail outlets too like Croma or Reliance Digital and it will not be Flipkart-exclusive anymore. Thus, customers in India can first try/experience Google Pixels in stores and then decide whether to buy them or not.

Battery Drain Test of Flagship Smartphones
Youtuber Tech Nick conducted battery drain test of flagship smartphones in Feb, May, and Aug. All phones were tested with the same brightness (LUX meter), NO SIM card, on Wi-Fi & running latest software updates.
RESULTS: The Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Ultra, both using Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, reached high as 68°C and 70°C even after bragging about 69,420mm² VC. They even failed to shut down after 60°C to avoid damage to internal components unlike safety mechanisms seen in Pixels & iPhones.
Pixel 8 Pro having NO vapor chamber, using a heater-- Tensor peaked at 55°C & managed 8hrs SoT, while Xiaomi 14 Ultra/Pro having large VC & efficient SoC offered just 7hrs SoT & reached 68C
iPhone 15 Pro Max had one of the best SoTs, despite a sub-5000mAh battery & heated the least. Honor and Huawei Pura 70 Ultra offered the best SoT at 11hrs. OnePlus and Samsung performed very well.
So, Vivo and Xiaomi lack/don't offer long-term care compared to others.

Xiaomi Service Centers: Turn Your Smartphone in for Repairs, Receive a Pocket-Sized Time Bomb Instead
People usually trust service centers to fix their smartphones, but Xiaomi seems to have a unique approach. Instead of just repairing devices, it seems that Xiaomi is determined to destroy your phone.
A user deposited his Mi 11 Lite 4G codenamed 'courbet' to Xiaomi's official service center in India. His device was out-of-warranty. The problem described by the customer in the jobsheet/service record says that, when the smartphone was turned ON, it enters the fastboot mode or the bootloader automatically. Also, it drains battery & the volume key was not working either
Xiaomi replaced the battery in the customer's smartphone & charged him Rs. 1472 (~18$). But just after 2 days, the customer's Mi 11 Lite smartphone exploded/blasted, indicating Xiaomi put a FAKE battery inside.
There are even cases where customers reported that Xiaomi has put FAKE displays on their smartphones

A user on XDA (unlikely from India) reported that his OnePlus 12R (16GB RAM variant) started smoking while it was in his pocket and then suddenly exploded after he threw it on the ground just in time.
The users says,
"About two weeks ago, my 3-month-old OnePlus 12R 16GB started smoking in my pants pocket and literally melted when I took it out. It was operational just seconds before and showed NO signs of any issues. I had not improperly charged it or exposed it to overheating or anything similar. Suddenly, the screen started melting before my eyes, which took a moment for me to realize. I threw it into the garden, and shortly after, it looked like this.I reported the issue as quickly as possible, and customer support responded promptly. They asked me to fill out a poorly formatted form to describe the incident and send in the device. Now, I'm waiting for further information from OnePlus."
