Google launches ‘Veo,’ an AI video generation tool
This model is built specifically for video generation that understands visual semantics and natural language, similar to other modern models. That approach brought into video generation offers results that can be creatively tailored to fit certain styles.
Google notes that the Veo model will be able to understand “cinematic terms” in the user’s prompts, like aerial shots and timelapse formats. Veo is capable of generating videos in 1080p that can last beyond a minute, which surpasses current models like OpenAI’s Sora, maxing out at 60 seconds.

Google I/O AI Count
During the 110mins Google I/O event, Google speakers spoke the 'AI' word 121 times
It's surprisingly less than the Google I/O 2023 event, where the 'AI' word was spoken 137 times
During the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2024, the 'AI' was spoken just 56 times

Apple's iOS 17.5 is reintroducing images that users deleted years ago
Reddit
A bug in iOS 17.5 is resurfacing photos that iPhone users deleted years ago in the Photos app as the most recent images
"When in conversation with my partner, I went to send a picture and saw that the latest pictures were NSFW material we’d made years ago when we were living apart. It was permanently deleted years ago, but magically it’s back?"
"I checked my iPad and it also has pictures (some art work I did years ago). I feel so uncomfortable."
"Same here. I have 4 pics from 2010 that keep reappearing as the latest pics uploaded to iCloud. I have deleted them repeatedly,” says another user
Apple hasn’t commented on the problem, but it raises questions about privacy and data retention

Samsung launched its most expensive MicroLED TV in South Korea
Samsung has launched a 114-inch version of its Micro LED TV in South Korea on popular demand (likely mostly from millionaires)
It had 89-inch and 101-inch sizes earlier, and adding the new size will “broaden the range of consumer choices.”
The 114-inch version of Samsung's Micro LED TV costs a whopping KRW 180 million ($132,630 or INR 1,10,59,408) 💀
Since its so much expensive, Samsung is giving away an 85-inch Neo QLED TV (QND900) for FREE and JBL L100 MK2 speaker at a discount.
Not only this, Samsung is also offering a KRW 3 million voucher (~ $2215 or INR 1,84,847) to stay at the Signiel Seoul luxury hotel to those who buy the 114-inch Micro LED TV this month.

Android phones are getting a theft protection feature that automatically locks them when they’re stolen!
Theft Detection Lock uses a ML model to detect when someone snatches your phone from your hand and tries to run, bike, or drive away. It uses data from your phone’s accelerometer and gyroscope and checks if common motions associated with theft are detected. If so, your phone will quietly lock itself.
The Theft Detection Lock feature will roll out through Google Play Services later this year on Android 10+ devices.
Other new theft protection features include:
- Upgraded factory reset protection in Android 15. If a thief tries to force a reset of a stolen device, they won’t be able to set it up again without knowing your device or Google account credentials.
- Disabling Find My Device or extending screen timeout now requires your screen credential.
- Enhanced authentication, when enabled, will require biometrics for accessing and changing critical Google account and device settings (like changing your PIN), disabling theft protection, or accessing passkeys from an untrusted location. This will roll out to select devices later this year.
- Offline Device Lock automatically locks the screen to protect your data even when your device is off the grid.
- Remote Lock lets you lock your phone with just your phone number (and a quick security challenge) in case you forgot your Google account password and can’t access Find My Device. This will be available on Android 10+.
- Private Space in Android 15. You can hide particularly sensitive apps in Private Space using a separate credential.
