Xiaomi Removed Bezels to Promote Mi 14 Ultra
To promote and boost the sales of the flagship Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone that Xiaomi priced at Rs.99,999 (~1200$), Xiaomi has removed the bezels from the smartphone's marketing material only lmao
The bezels-less smartphones are still 4-5yrs away from becoming a reality, thus Xiaomi is now removing the bezels in promotion materials atleast 'on paper'
It seems like Xiaomi knows barely anyone would buy their flagship, so they are now doing FAKE Marketing even for their flagship products now

The OnePlus offline sales ban could spread across India
Recently, The South Indian Organised Retailers Association (ORA) sent a letter to OnePlus India's director of sales, Ranjeet Singh, citing that retailers have decided to STOP selling OnePlus products.
The ORA represents 4500 retail stores across 23 retail chains in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra & Gujarat.
Thus, OnePlus will be banned across Southern India starting from May 1,2024
Reasons to Drop OnePlus:
β’ Providing Less Stocks
β’ Low-Profit Margins
β’ Delays in Warranty & Service claims
β’ Forcing Product Bundling
β’ Lack of Relationship (NO promoters/ NO demos)
Things have become worse now as The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), representing over 150,000 offline smartphone retailers in India, has told OnePlus that its members might STOP selling OnePlus products too starting May 1
AIMRA alleged that OnePlus was selling products through βillegitimate channels to inflate numbers.β

YT HDR
Google moved many of their YouTube videos to av1 to save on hosting costs.
Unfortunately in the process, they introduced a severe bug affecting
millions of devices. Summarizing:
- only 8g2 and newer support av1 hardware decoding on the qcom side.
-
while YouTube respects device av1 limits on non hdr
(media_codecs_performance.xml), it does not respect device limits on HDR
videos, offering higher resolution than devices can play for software
decoding.
- Anything beyond 1080p non hdr av1 will lag tremendously (but is blocked)
- Anything beyond 720p hdr10 av1 lags tremendously (>90% frame drops until unplayable).
-
All videos which have been switched to av1 are now using tremendous
battery and cpu cycles since they are now all software decoded using a
low performance sw decoder (dav1d) β all to save Google some hosting
costs.

Playing Genshin Impact On WearOS Smartwatch
Source
You can now play Genshin Impact on Wear OS smartwatches.
However, the catch is that the smartwatch isnβt actually running Genshin Impact.
Instead, it is running a cloud-streamed version of the game that is officially available in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Myanmar & China.
Genshin Impact Cloud is available for download on smartphones only, thus you need to sideload the app onto your smartwatch
The Chinese variant of the OnePlus Watch 2, aka the Oppo Watch X or the 4 Pro comes in a square shape similar to Apple Watches instead of a circular shape, allows users to install apps directly, which can be done without relying on sideloading, as it doesn't come with Wear OS.
But the OnePlus Watch 2 running on WearOS 4 also makes it easier to sideload apps through ADB
You will get a sign-in error if you try it in other regions but it can probably be resolved by signing in through a VPN

Apple pulls WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Threads from China app store after Beijing order
Apple said that it has removed WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Threads from its App Store in China after being ordered to do so by the Chinese government, which cited national security concerns.
The removal of the four apps suggests growing intolerance on the part of China's central government towards at least some foreign online messaging services that fall outside of its control. It also signals less leeway for Apple in China.
Residents of China seeking unfiltered news, who can sometimes access it using foreign messaging apps through VPNs, now have a lot fewer choices.

Google Wallet launches in India, with local integrations, but Pay will stay
Google Wallet has finally launched in India. It is rolling out in batches, so not everyone can install it now.
Google will continue to run Google Pay as a stand-alone app in the country, at least for now.
