This isn't really a surprise when you consider that Apple only ditched 64GB models completely in 2021 with the iPhone 13 series
Although some Android phones also ship 128GB storage in their base models, they are NOT exactly bragging about this storage allotment
In Samsung’s case, the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra have 256GB of base storage.
If it's storage Apple wants to highlight, then why not do that with the 1TB iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max?

European Union has announced that non-compliance investigations have been opened against Apple, Google, and Meta, under the new Digital Markets Act (DMA).
If that investigation confirms that Apple failed to comply with the antitrust law, then Apple could be fined up to 10% of its worldwide turnover – increasing to 20% for repeat infringements
The investigation into Apple will look at whether the company allows developers to "steer" users away from its App Store, as well as its default web browser choice screen.
Google's rules on steering in Google Play and self-preferencing in Google searches are also being looked at, as is Meta's "pay or consent model."
EU is also gathering facts & information to clarify whether Apple's new fee structure and other T&Cs for alternative app stores & distribution of apps from the web (sideloading) may be defeating the purpose of its obligations under the DMA.
