Apple starts selling Watch series 9 and Ultra 2 as the ban temporarily paused

The US International Trade Commission found that Apple had infringed Masimo patents & ordered a BAN as a result.

Now, Apple has won a temporary pause of its Watch ban & it has started selling Watch 9 series and Ultra 2 once again in the US

Apple requested a federal appeals court to pause the ban at least until US Customs can determine if changes it’s making to the Apple Watch would be enough to avoid the patent dispute that led to the ban

US Customs will hear over the changes on January 12th.

Apple made a very clever move this time as it submitted a software update application to the Customs as a backup method.
Through this, it can try to use software circumvention methods to bypass the ban and re-sell the Apple Watch Series. 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 that got banned due to patent infringement

Masimo will have to fight again with Apple to prove that updating software algorithms still infringes the patent

Google agrees to settle Chrome incognito mode class action lawsuit

A class-action lawsuit filed in 2020 accused Google of continuing to "track, collect, and identify [users'] browsing data in real-time" even when they had opened a new Incognito window.
The lawsuit had sought at least $5 billion.

It also alleged that sites using Google Analytics or Ad Manager collected information from browsers in Incognito mode, including web page content, device data, and IP address.

The plaintiffs also accused Google of taking Chrome users' private browsing activity and then associating it with their already-existing user profiles.

Google said that the warning tells users that their activity "might still be visible to websites you visit." when they turn on incognito mode

However, the judge pointed out that Google never revealed to its users that data collection continued even while surfing in Incognito mode.

Google and Plantiffs have reached a preliminary settlement.

For those who dislike our new logo..

I understand many still prefer the old one and everyone has different opinions.

Some find the new design too basic, resembling just an arrow, while the old one was seen as raw and bold. But the previous logo also has its own drawbacks and since it's been more than a year, I believe a change is due.

Change is challenging, especially when the previous logo was well-received, but I think any design can be upgraded with creativity.

This new logo was my choice, not the designer's. So instead of just disliking it, I propose a collaborative effort.

So if you're up for it, create a NEW logo using the letters — T, L, and Z.

Let's see how much y'all are creative and We'll have a poll upcoming Sunday to pick a new one together.

Google Pixel 6 series gets support from The Mainline Linux Kernel

Pixel 6 series is powered by Google tensor GS 101 and was launched back in 2021.

Now, the initial Google Tensor GS101 support along with the Pixel 6 smartphone Device Tree support is finally set to appear in the mainline Linux kernel rather than being found in just the various Android/AOSP downstream kernel sources.

The initial GS101 / Google Tensor patches along with the Pixel 6 DT (Oriole) have made it into the Samsung SoC tree's "for-next" branch ahead of the upcoming Linux 6.8 cycle.

In the recent patch series for this Tensor/GS101 SoC, support added in this series consists of:
* cpus
* pinctrl
* CCF implementation of cmu_top, cmu_misc & cmu_apm
* watchdog
* USI uart
* gpio

Better late than never. It's also with Linux 6.8 where the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be able to boot the mainline kernel.

Samsung Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note 2 received Android 14 upgrade

The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 were released in 2012 (almost 12 years ago) with 2GB RAM running on Samsung TouchWiz UI

The Samsung Galaxy S III (Samsung i9300) was based on Android 4 (Ice-cream Sandwich) & was powered by a Samsung Exynos 1.4GHz Quad-core chip

Galaxy Note 2 (N7100) was based on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) & was powered by a Samsung Exynos 1.6GHz Quad-core chip

Samsung last updated both of them to Android 4.4 (KitKat) with 3.4 Kernel version

A custom ROM developer has now brought LineageOS 21 based on Android 14 to both Galaxy S3 as well as Galaxy Note 2

Mostly all things are working including the cameras, NFC, Graphics & even the RIL
However, encryption is dead as FDE was removed with Android 13 & these devices don't support FBE.

A jump from Android 4 to Android 14 basically means that Galaxy S3 has received 12 Android OS upgrades making it the longest-updated device even though unofficially

Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will be unveiled at its first Unpacked 2024 event in San Jose, California on January 17.

AI features will be the major area of focus for the new flagships, with the Exynos 2400 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets both boasting significant AI capabilities.

STOP Believing the CPU Throttling test results of Xiaomi flagships

Xiaomi 14 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 & even features a Vapor-liquid separation design cooling system for heat dissipation

The CPU throttle test results of Xiaomi 14 pro indicates that it barely throttles, offering 88% of its max performance

However, the Xiaomi benchmarking results are FAKE

Previously Xiaomi was one of those that CHEATED by letting CPU performance be boosted during benchmarks.
Now Xiaomi has changed its way

Basically, Qualcomm allows OEMs that use Snapdragon chips to "remove thermal limitations" during benchmarks, clearly reflecting the real-world scene

Thus, Xiaomi 14 pro reached 93C in the CPU test & the on-surface temperature reached 50C
Also, newer Ximi's have 6C offset, so the 93C reported is canonically 100C on-die.

Pixels and iPhones however throttle the CPU performance to stop the smartphone from heating and Xiaomi lets it heat just to flex its smartphone performance
