Xiaomi notes restructuring of modules like file & network system, memory management etc with HyperOS.
However, Xiaomi successfully fails to explain how different it is from MIUI firmware

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC ONLY supports 64bit apps

This forced Xiaomi to redo the overlays that target the 32bit Framework.
You can't build the frameworks as 32bit because of the massive overhead which is ~40% with tango

As they're forced to redo the framework, management see the potential to rebrand it along the way.
Thus the "Vela" platform was born in the marketing board

There is NO single reference to Xiaomi's open-sourced "Vela" Platform in Xiaomi work Gerrit (private).
Also, several Xiaomi HALs are 32bit including the MIUI media server LOL

So, HyperOS is just MIUI with new SystemUI overlays & an excuse to the technical difficulty of shipping 64-bit only lmao

Honor Magic 6 series will let you open apps with your eyes

Honor upcoming flagship, Magic 6 series will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and will also come with eye-tracking interaction technology

Honor has added a new feature called "Magic Capsule" that will allow users to open apps with their eyes
The feature is defined as “eye-tracking based multimodal interaction.”

The demo video for Magic Capsule shows that this feature looks like the iPhone's Dynamic Island.
If you stare long enough at the app snippet running in the capsule, it’ll expand out into the full-screen version of the app.

Honor is also adding a new assistant called YOYO
Users will be able to give command prompts to YOYO to create short videos featuring photos and footage stored on their devices.

Google researchers turned existing headphones into Heart Rate Monitor

Heart rate monitoring in smartwatches relies partially on photoplethysmography (PPG), which uses light pulses to measure blood activity

Now researchers at Google have successfully used audioplethysmography (APG), which utilizes ultrasound to measure heart rate, for cardiac monitoring with hearable devices WITHOUT adding extra sensors or compromising battery life.

They did it with off-the-shelf ANC earbuds & with just a software update.

The trick works by sending a low intensity ultrasound probing signal through an ANC headphone's speakers. This signal triggers echoes, which are received via on-board feedback microphones.

"We observe that the tiny ear canal skin displacement and heartbeat vibrations modulate these ultrasound echoes.
Ultrasound approach worked robustly even when music was playing & with bad earbuds sealed"

Apple Watch BAN Issued by ITC in Masimo Patent Battle

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has ordered a BAN on Apple Watch imports into the country after finding that Apple infringed Masimo's patents relating to light-based technology for reading blood-oxygen levels.

Masimo accused Apple of having illegally poached Masimo employees and stole trade secrets when developing the Apple Watch.
The company is seeking over $1.8 billion in damages and co-ownership of 5 Apple pulse oximetry patents that's originally Masimo's tech

Apple might also face another Ban on Watch import in a separate patent court battle with AliveCor company.

The ban is now subject to presidential review, so it does NOT take effect immediately.
Apple can also take the ban to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit after the 60-day review period ends.

Apple said: "Masimo has wrongly attempted to use the ITC to keep a potentially lifesaving product from millions of U.S. consumers"
