Interesting facts about Chinese brands in India

OnePlus 11R is Exclusively for India & it was launched as OnePlus Ace 2 in China
Both were launched on the same day (7th Feb, 2023) & with same chip i.e Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

I noticed that OnePlus Ace 2 in China has higher binned & better quality 3.2Ghz SD 8+ Gen 1 (SM8475- AC)

Meanwhile the OnePlus 11R uses worse binned & underclocked 3.0Ghz SD 8+ Gen 1 (SM8475- AB)

FunFact:
OnePlus 7 was launched back in 2019 & comes with USB 3.0 for faster data transfer speed
OnePlus 11 launched in 2023 uses USB 2.0

There is NO new Xiaomi & Realme smartphone b/w 400$~800$ in India

Xiaomi 13T series with LEICA cam/ Poco F5 Pro etc did NOT launch in India but came to Indonesia & Europe
Same applies for Honor 90 Pro & Moto Edge 40 Pro

Xiaomi gives pathetic quality to Indian market compared to EU/ APAC

Seems like Chinese brands consider India as a dumping ground as they only launch garbage & rebranded shit here

Still people buy it & support them too

Microsoft Leaked 38 TB of private data
Source

Starting July 2020, Microsoft AI research division accidentally leaked 38 TB of sensitive data.
This was discovered by security researchers of cloud security firm Wiz

Microsoft’s AI research team published Open-Source training data on a public GitHub Repo using Shared Access Signature (SAS tokens)
SAS are sharable links granting access to Azure Storage data.

Instead of limiting access only to specific files, the token granted access to the ENTIRE account, including 18 storage containers

The leaked data included backups of personal information of Microsoft employees
β€’ Passwords for Microsoft services
β€’ Private keys
β€’ Private source code & AI training data
β€’ 30,000 internal Microsoft Teams messages of 359 employees

SAS tokens are created offline with NO limit on their expiry or scope
They aren’t managed within the Azure portal & are difficult to revoke

These features help easy content sharing but they can also serve as dangerous pitfalls

Why is Google Tensor based on Samsung Exynos?
Source

Google wanted to integrate its great custom hardware (like Titan M chip, custom ISP, Pixel Visual Core) into a single SoC that could be uniquely tailored for its Pixel smartphones.

Initially, Google chip team was very small so it was NOT possible to design a complete SoC from scratch, so Google decided to find someone that can design the chip & meanwhile Google would work upon other custom components

In early 2020
, Samsung LSI announced a new β€œCustom SoC” division, providing design support to its customers.
Samsung wanted to leverage its massive library of IP blocks, encompassing CPUs to 5G modems

So around 2019, Google must have approached Samsung
Google delivered its custom hardware requirements it wanted to include like Tensor’s unique 2x (Cortex-X1)+2 +4 CPU config.

Then Samsung began building the chip using its vast library of IP & Google started to deliver custom hardware parts for final integration
Next Samsung worked on physical design of the chip & finally it was manufactured on Samsung fab as the part of contract

So, Samsung helped Google in solving issues & in "chip-bringup". It even provided software for SoC designing to Google

Now, the Google chip team has been greatly expanded along with the IP library.
Google is becoming capable of ditching Samsung's hands starting with Tensor G5

Google Pixel 8a images have been leaked
Abhishek Yadav

Twitter user Abhishek Yadav has leaked images of the unreleased Pixel 8a in blue.

The device looks similar to the regular Pixel 7a, with it being more rounded compared to the predecessor. Its metal sides are matte with a pill-shaped camera cutout and shiny back glass.

Just like other A-series models, the display has thick bezels compared to flagship Pixels and other phones.

The device is likely running an AOSP build and has stickers marking it as a prototype with links to internal Google websites.

Abhishek also mentioned that the Pixel 8a features the Tensor G3 chip and its codename is akita, which matches the leaked Google roadmap.
