Why Nothing Phone 2 has a worse chip than other flagships?
Qualcomm doesn't make SoCs, it designs them.
TSMC prints these designs on silicon wafers
Wafers are then cut to obtain chips
During this process, about 15-30% of chips are defective, so yield is 70-85% only
The chips are divided in "bins" according to their performance, clock speeds & other characteristics
Instead of throwing away defective or rejected silicone that is unstable, they are used in worse chips & sold for cheap
That's why Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC has 2 variants:
• SM8475-AB (worse bin with lower clock speed)
1x X2 @ 3.0GHz, 3x A710 @ 2.5GHz, 4x A510 @ 1.8GHz
• SM8475-AC (better bin with higher clock speed)
1x X2 @ 3.19GHz, 3x A710 @ 2.75GHz, 4x A510 @ 2.02GHz
The Nothing Phone 2 uses the inferior SM8475-AB variant, while other 8+ Gen 1 devices have the better SM8475-AC variant
So for the sake of profits, Carl Pei used a worse bin chip in Phone 2 which has a lower clock speed & is built on unstable silicon

AMD ‘Zenbleed’ exploit can leak passwords and encryption keys from Zen 2 CPUs
Tavis Ormandy uncovered a flaw "Zenbleed" (CVE-2023-20593) in Zen 2 by exploiting precise scheduling and vzeroupper to spy on operations like
According to Cloudflare, the Zenbleed exploit doesn’t require physical access to a user’s computer to attack their system, and can even be executed remotely through Javascript on a webpage. The flexibility of this exploit is a particular concern for cloud-hosted services as it could potentially be used to spy on users within cloud instances.
The entire Zen 2 product stack is impacted by the vulnerability, including all processors within the AMD Ryzen 3000 / 4000 / 5000 / 7020 series, the Ryzen Pro 3000 / 4000 series, and AMD’s EPYC “Rome” data center processors. AMD has already released a microcode patch for second-generation Epyc 7002 processors, though the next updates for the remaining CPU lines aren’t expected until October 2023 at the earliest.

This vulnerability is capable of spying on operations across virtual machines, sandboxes, containers, and processes, could leak up to 30 kb/core/sec of sensitive data!According to Cloudflare, the Zenbleed exploit doesn’t require physical access to a user’s computer to attack their system, and can even be executed remotely through Javascript on a webpage. The flexibility of this exploit is a particular concern for cloud-hosted services as it could potentially be used to spy on users within cloud instances.

Chrome 116 is receiving one time permissions, like Android
Chrome Developer Blog
In the latest Chrome beta, you'll be able to give a website your location, camera or microphone access for one visit, instead of giving access to it all the time.
The one time permission will expire after:
- you close the tab, navigate it away or discard it
- 16 hours have passed
- you manually revoke the permission
- the page has been in the background (unless it's allowed to run in the background, like with the camera or mic)
You will also notice a tab strip indicator to let you know what tab has access to your camera/microphone in the background.
To enable this, open

NSO is an Israeli company known for Pegasus Spyware that can remotely hack ANY iphone by sending an iMessage even if the receiver doesn't open it
They also make other spywares such as Landmark that exploits vulnerabilities in cell phones towers/ stations & can tell its accurate Location
In November 2021, U.S.A Blacklisted NSO Group over national security risk
But, in April 2023, a New York Times investigation found that a contractor had bought an NSO spying tool specifically for use by the U.S. Govt.
White House claimed it is unaware & tasked FBI to find out the culprit
During FBI investigation, FBI found that culprit is the FBI itself
The FBI gave its contactor — Riva Network some phone numbers used by drug dealers to locate those devices believing it uses in-house tools.
But, Riva Networks purchased & used NSO Landmark spyware on FBI behalf
In 2019 - 2021, the FBI even used Riva Networks to purchase Pegasus & test it

Microsoft has accidentally leaked an internal tool called as "Staging Tool" that its employees uses as it can enable secret/hidden features of Windows 11.
Its similar to 3rd party GUI based ViveTool app
StagingTool is a command line app that can override A/B testing & lets you toggle feature IDs to gain access to features regardless of if you got them “officially” or not.
The tool was leaked by Microsoft in a “bug bash” quest in the Feedback Hub, where a link to the Staging Tool was included but only intended for internal testers.
Microsoft quickly removed it, but you can still get the TOOL from the chat of the channel
Bug Bash event is held by Microsoft to get feedbacks from Windows 11 testers for fixing all the bugs before it releases its next BIG Windows 11 update in September with native support for RAR & 7-Zip files

Previously, OnePlus (a BBK Brand) made OnePlus 11 region locked to China but you can atleast use it, just cannot make calls or send SMS
But Carl Pei made Nothing Phone 2 unusable only as phone will not pass the initial setup
Nothing utilizes Network Bands to check the region
So if you went outside India with Phone 2 then you cannot RESET else Phone will be locked if Indian SIM Card is not inserted
If you import Phone 2 Indian unit in another countries, it will NOT work as Indian SIM card is required
Even Xiaomi does NOT do region locking of smartphones unlike BBK Brands

Indian Government delays plans to ban import of laptops , tablets & PCs
Recently Indian Government imposed a licensing requirement for imports of laptops, tablets and personal computers from Aug 3 in a surprise move.
Without license, import of all these electronic items had been banned
But now, Indian Government has delayed the plans & imports can continue as usual
India will now provide a transition period before a new licensing regime for imports of laptops, tablets and personal computers comes into effect.
"Industry has sought a 3-6 month transition period . We are examining the suggestions made by the industry and may soon issue an additional notice with clarifications if needed," A government source told Reuters
This move is aimed at addressing the trade imbalance with China
New Delhi will issue licences for companies to import laptops and tablets within 2 days.
Licences can be obtained online.

Asus to STOP supporting Unlocking Bootloader

ASUS provides its own unlocking tool for its phones same like Chinese brands
Previously, Asus announced that its temporarily stopping its Unlocking tool service to add support for Asus Zenfone 10 unlocking and the service will resume back in Q3
But now some people contacted Asus Customer Care as to when unlocking service will resume as month of August (Q3) has already started
Asus technical support informed that unlocking the bootloader on Asus Zenfones is NO longer possible and won’t be possible in the future.
Although, user's query was related to unlocking Zenfone 9, but Asus support made it clear that Zenfone 10 also will NOT be supported for unlocking the bootloader
But Asus has not yet announced anything officially, so consider it as a rumour only even if news is claimed by Asus support themselves
