Oppo is closing its chip design business for reasons being uncertainties in the global economy and the smartphone industry
Oppo has killed its operation in Zeku Unit (setup in 2019) which develops in-house SoC for Oppo like AP, modems, Wi-Fi etc and famous MariSilicon X too which is a ISP chip to improve photography and MariSilicon Y which is Bluetooth SoC
Mishaal Rahman noted that Zeku employees submitted a patch to get their required ABI symbols into Google's kernel tree for their in-house SoC, and days later, they're shut down. Zeku was even developing a Processor for Oppo smartphones
Xiaomi was also developing its own processor for smartphone but they also ended up KILLING it before Oppo did but Xiaomi still develops custom ISP, DSP chips
Vivo is the only Chinese brand left who is still developing a processor with Samsung apart from Google which develops Tensor chips

Google can now delete accounts that have been unused for 2 years

Google has announced that from December 2023, they may delete inactive accounts that haven't been used for 2 years, including content in Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar, YouTube and Google Photos.
Abandoned accounts are 10x less likely to have 2FA enabled, which can make them more vulnerable to identity theft. (so the best way to combat this is to remove your access to all of your accounts and email, right?)
This will only affect personal Google accounts, and not organizations like businesses or schools.
To keep your account active, you'll need to do one of either:
• have any subscription including Google One
• read/send an email
• use Google Drive/Search
• watch a YouTube video
• download an app from the Play Store
• sign in using Google for a third party app
• sign in to Google Photos
Google will send multiple notifications to your emails (including the recovery) before removing any content.

Google is adding Apps Cloning in Android 14

Google is testing a new “cloned apps” feature in Android 14 that will let you “create a second instance of an app so that you can use two accounts at the same time.”
It will be available in Device Settings > Apps > Cloned Apps
When you will Clone any app using this feature, Android will create a "clone user profile” and installs that app onto the profile and any apps cloned afterward are installed onto the same clone profile that was created before.
The Clone User profile created will NOT share app data so you need to re-login in the cloned apps
Unfortunately, the list of apps that are cloneable is currently restricted to few apps instead of all and are defined by the OEM.

The Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) is a new tool to help track your lost or stolen mobile phone. It has been released ALL Over India
The tool helps you track your lost phone as well as block it if required. It will make phone UNUSABLE on all network operators of India
If anyone tries to use your phone after it’s blocked, its traceability will be automatically generated.
You can always unblock your phone from the portal once you find it back
Pre-requisite:
• Smartphone IMEI no. required
• File a police complaint to get an FIR
• Smartphone Invoice
• A government ID card such as ADHAAR
Finally, Head to Sanchaar Saathi Website under CEIR portal to block and track your lost/ stolen smartphone
