Google for India - today's event summarized, part 1
Google Lens | YouTube Courses | Search in videos
Google for India is an annual event in the South Asian market, where it showcases dozens of new developments for the whole world. These features will be available internationally:
Google Lens can now read doctors' terrible handwriting:
Users will be able to to take or upload a picture of their prescription, and the app will detect and highlight the medicines mentioned in the note.
YouTube Courses:
Courses will allow creators to share learning materials in the form of videos, PDF's and other files. The courses will be available in beta in India, South Korea, and the US, and can be free or paid, depending on the creator. If paid, Google will charge as per its standard rates of 55% going to the author with the rest going to YouTube. The feature is coming in 2023.
YouTube is also testing the ability to have a single video with multiple audio tracks in different languages.
Search in videos:
Google is trying out a new search in video option that will enable users to look for pieces of content within a video in Google Search. All users need to do is type in their query in the Google app on iOS and tap the ‘Search in video’ button.

The feature will make it easier for people in India to view search results in English and Hindi, with Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi being added later.

Users will be able to simultaneously search for information using a combination of text and images. This feature was announced in April in the US, but will be available in India starting with English, with support for Hindi and other languages to be added later.
Files by Google will store your government documents safely:
Digilocker will allow users to access their copies of goverment documents from the Files by Google app on Android. The service is built on privacy and security, with documents stored in an isolated environment on the device that can only be accessed with unique lock screen verification.
Improved Hinglish support in Voice Search:
Google's Voice Search can now better understand users speaking in Hinglish using context, speaking style, individual accents, and surrounding sounds.

The UK Government's Intellectual Property Office published new piracy guidance which mentions that the people who share their Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or other streaming platforms passwords are violators of copyright law.
And it gets worse as password sharing could also mean criminal liability for fraud according to the IPO
