Google has introduced "Ask Google Pay" in India

Ask Google Pay is a conversational AI powered by Gemini, where you can analyze your spending patterns, get savings tips, explore tailored offers, and learn about SIPs or credit scores. You will also receive personalized suggestions based on your transaction history and credit report data.

Ask Google Pay is opt-in, and currently available in 10 Indian languages.

They've also launched a new Google Pay Flex SBI Card, but we don't talk about that here.

🌐 Mozilla is testing a redesigned Firefox interface in nightly builds as part of its Nova project. The update rounds tab buttons and the address bar, and it groups the tab strip, navigation bar, and sidebar inside a separate colored area. Firefox also adds dedicated toolbar buttons for private browsing and the built in VPN.

The redesign makes it easier to use tab groups, vertical tabs, and side by side viewing for two tabs. Mozilla also brings back compact mode, which reduces the space the interface takes on screen. The browser’s icons now look cleaner and more balanced in light and dark themes, while the new color palette uses purple tones and lighter warm shades. Mozilla also added a glow effect around the active tab button and adjusted spacing across the interface.

In my opinion, the UI update is not nice. What is this jumble of unrelated elements? There is no switch to restore the previous design, and userChrome.css is a partial solution.

πŸ’£ Russia has designated me as a β€œterrorist” for refusing its demands for mass surveillance and censorship on Telegram.

Under Russian law, I’m banned from β€œpublishing information on the Internet” 😌

Russian officials are clearly confused about who can ban whom from the Internet πŸ˜‰

GitHub has released Stacked pull requests in public preview, which is why the menu icon is now a pancake.

Stacked pull requests break large changes into small, reviewable pull requests. They’re an ordered series of pull requests that each represent focused layers of your change. With stacks, you can independently review and check each pull request, then merge everything together in one click. No more opening a single large pull request that takes forever to review, or splitting work across multiple branches you have to keep manually rebasing.

πŸ“ Microsoft is updating Windows 11 context menus to make them faster, more stable, and easier to customize. The current menus have become bloated (and slow) with items from Microsoft and third-party apps, which can cause a delay of one to two seconds on some PCs when users right-click. The problem stands out most on systems with many installed programs.

So Microsoft is building a compact version of the menu that focuses on the most common actions and skips heavy third-party extensions. That should improve both speed and reliability.

πŸ›  Microsoft also showed a customization feature at a Windows Insider event in London. It will let users hide unwanted commands, keep only useful items, and rearrange menu entries. A Customize option will appear at the bottom of the list of the menu items.
