New benchmarking tests in Geekbench 7

Geekbench 7 will also test your computer's SoC single-core performance in Game Physics, Video Encoding, Audio Encoding and Video Player.

The above tests were performed on MSI Prestige 16 AI+ C3MG powered by Intel Core Ultra 9 386H processor and running windows 11 Home with 32GB RAM.

Geekbench 7 has been released!

What's new:
- Geekbench 7's CPU benchmark measures performance in new application areas including video conferencing, streaming, and game physics (using Jolt Engine), so you'll know how your system handles the tasks you rely on every day.

- New GPU image editing and synthesis tests are available, like RAW image processing, LUT-based video color grading, path tracing, and fluid simulation.

- The multi-core tests only run multi-threaded when real applications do, so your scores reflect how software actually behaves.

- New to Geekbench 7 is an increased focus on Machine Learning, and support for NVIDIA'S CUDA API.

- Geekbench 7 adds media workloads for testing audio and video encoding, decoding, and processing. The Whisper speech recognition, AV1, and Opus tests mimic video conferencing, screen sharing, and content consumption workloads.

Pretty much every device including iPhones will show lower scores now on Geekbench 7 compared to scores on Geekbench 6

Google officially drops support for Android 6 Marshmallow after 11 years

As of yesterday, Google has officially pulled the plug on Android 6. This means the OS will no longer receive Play Protect updates and will not be included in the new APK program. Having been supported for exactly 11 years, it goes down as the longest-supported version in Android history. Google Play Services is now only supported on Android 7 and above.

Google also made changes to several other applications yesterday. YouTube now requires Android 10 and above, meaning Android 9 will no longer receive YouTube updates. The Google app's minimum requirement jumped from Android 9 directly to Android 11, and core apps like Gmail now require at least Android 7 and above.

Oppo Announced New Rules For Bootloader Unlocking of OnePlus Smartphones in China

Even though OnePlus devices will get ColorOS 17 worldwide, Oppo isn't entirely killing its bootloader unlocking ability. Instead, it will make them as annoying & harsh as Xiaomi has done in China.

• Models with ColorOS 16.0 and above
• The account has been registered for at least 60 days and has no violations or irregularities.
• The account has completed real-name authentication, facial recognition, and mobile phone number binding.
• The account has been logged in on this device for 7 consecutive days.
• The same registered user has no application records within 30 days and unlocks no more than 4 devices per year.
• The number of slots for in-depth testing has not reached the limit.
• Deep testing application upgraded to the latest version
• Mobile phones and tablets sold in mainland China

For currently supported models: quotas will be available for the first time in September, and quotas will be released on the 1st of each month starting from the following month

For models equipped with ColorOS 17+ : the first batch of slots will be available 1 month after the new product launch, and slots will be released on the 1st of each month starting from the following month

For devices upgraded to ColorOS 17 and above: the first quota will be released 1 month after the official version is released, and the quota will be released on the 1st of each month starting from the following month.

Once your application to join the in-depth testing program is approved, your in-depth testing slot is valid for 14 days. You will need to reapply after 14 days.

If the product malfunctions after being included in the testing program, the product will not be eligible for return or replacement, but the original warranty will still apply.
