✨ What is QPR?

QPR = Quarterly Platform Release. These are released every 3 months, as the name suggests, and are also known as Pixel Feature Drops. These are fairly big updates that usually bring a new feature or three as well as the latest security patch level and fixes. They will be released numbered in beta, for example QPR2 beta 1, and will continue in beta until they reach stable at their respective target month. Those months are:

• December
• March
• June

And September, or somewhere around there, will bring the new Android version.


QPR releases also affect AOSP source and in turn custom ROMs. Because of this whenever we are in a QPR month the next update to any custom ROM will take a while, some longer than others. There is always a good chance a few of their features will also be temporarily removed.
