Civil: Building the core physical world.
Mechanical: Running the wheels of progress.
Electrical: Powering our homes and industries.
Computer & Electronics: Programming the smart future and leading the AI revolution.

Over the weekend, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a blunt essay titled
"𝐖𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫". In it, he admitted that AI capabilities are moving way faster than our ability to control or understand them.
While peers like Sam Altman and Elon Musk backed the idea, the political & international pushback was aggressive.
Here is exactly what went down and why it matters:
⏱️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥: 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫
Amodei warned that recursive self improvement and agentic AI behaviors are escalating rapidly. He laid out a plan to slow down capability gains, though not halting AI entirely:
Embedded Evaluators: Giving third party safety auditors "employee-like access"—
🇺🇸 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞: 𝐀 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲
President Donald Trump completely rejected the call to tap the brakes, framing any artificial slowdown as a threat to national security.
The Native Guardrail: Trump stated that the best control over the technology is a "STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT,
Direct Criticism: He targeted Amodei directly, stating the tech executive was "pretending to be a perfect little angel"
🇨🇳 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚'𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐲: 𝐀 "𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤"
While the United Nations Security Council scheduled emergency meetings to address the issue, the reaction from Beijing was highly critical:
Containment Strategy: Chinese officials argued that the essay's push for safety benchmarks is actually a disguised "𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤" aimed at restricting China’s access to frontier computing and semiconductors.

We have entered a brand new phase of the tech era. The very people building these advanced models are warning that they are moving too fast to control. Meanwhile, political leaders are shouting back that if we slow down, we hand the future to geopolitical adversaries.

I recently got early access to a new AI model that doesn't chat at all.
There is no chat box, no paragraphs, and no long explanations. It just gives you a direct answer and a probability score.
It is called Jev, built by a company called TypeSafe AI.
It caught my attention because it fixes a frustrating issue. For the last two years, we have been using chat models for everything, even for tasks where a conversation makes no sense.
For example, if you want to know if a customer review is positive, a standard chat model gives you a few sentences of explanation. Then you have to write extra code just to extract a simple "yes" or "no" from that text.
With Jev, you ask: "Is this review positive? Yes / No"
And it returns: "Yes - 94%"
That is it. You can take that 94% and use it directly in your software.
It handles three basic tasks:
• Selecting between options (like A, B, or C)
• Scoring something on a scale from 0 to 1
• Giving a clear Yes or No
The team calls it a "System One Model," and their slogan is: Decisions Not Chat.
If you are building software that needs to make thousands of the same decisions every day—like content moderation, lead scoring, or sorting feedback—this approach makes a lot of sense. You do not need a conversation; you just need a reliable data point.
The founders, Diogo Almeida, Sasha Sheng, and Erik Gafni, previously worked at OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Their main focus is making these choices faster, cheaper, and more consistent.
I spent some time testing the early access version and wrote a detailed breakdown on The August Dispatch about how it works, what it does well, and where it still has limitations.
I will leave the link in the first comment.
If you are building software features and are tired of cleaning up text paragraphs just to get one piece of data, it is worth a look.
How are you handling these types of decisions in your software right now? Are you still using chat models, or have you switched to something.

OpenAI Dots are here. Here's what they actually do.
OpenAI just dropped Dots at DevDay 2026, and the agentic shift is real:
· 24/7 Always-On Execution (No human prompts needed to sustain long-running multi-step workflows)
· 94.2% on AgentBench v3 (Autonomous problem-solving across cloud terminals)
· 100% Secure Environment isolation (Runs entirely inside sandboxed OpenAI cloud computers).
But the real game-changer?
Dots don't just chat back—they live on your computer and work for you around the clock. They can continuously browse the web, run tests on complex codebases, fix bugs, and optimize application performance while you sleep. Think of them as tiny, specialized digital workers tailored for higher-level execution.
Where can you try it?
· ChatGPT Pro mode
· ChatGPT Business Premium
· OpenAI Developer Dashboard (via the new Agentic API suite)
Included seamlessly in premium tiers.
What this means for me:
I build AI-powered products. Having spent countless nights manually debugging and tracking infrastructure, I see Dots as the ultimate productivity multiplier. They handle the repetitive, ongoing operations so creators can focus purely on architecture, strategy, and scaling real solutions.
AI won't take your job. But a developer deploying an army of Dots just might.
Check out my other posts if you're building in the agentic space. Let's connect.
