A mysterious AI model called Ox Alpha, available on OpenRouter, is beating out some of the worldβs best AI models in coding tasks. The model takes text, image, and video inputs and offers a huge 1 million-token context window. It is claimed to beat OpenAIβs GPT-5.6 Sol and Anthropicβs Claude Fable 5 on coding benchmarks, but who created it is unknown. OpenRouter calls it a βstealth modelβ built by an unnamed third-party provider.

Y Combinator-backed US startup Meteoric is developing specialized drones to clear clouds. The drones would fly into low- and mid-altitude clouds and change the droplets within the clouds. This could improve the amount of sunlight reaching solar farms and increase their power generation.
The technology could also reduce cloud reflectivity and change how clouds behave. Meteoric hopes that the drones could help weaken severe storms and hurricanes in the future.

Update: OpenAI has decided to slow down the development of its advanced Astra AI model after one of its AI agents conducted a cyberattack on Hugging Face on its own. This means that the company has stopped its most extensive planned training session in order to investigate both Astraβs safety and its hacking abilities.
Moreover, OpenAI is putting more control mechanisms in place and requiring more safety measures before it continues with the development.
The company is also busy developing a monitoring system that will enable people to be notified of suspicious behavior on the part of AI in less than half an hour.
OpenAI plans to release a detailed technical report on the Hugging Face incident in the coming weeks.

India has ordered Google to shut down hundreds of Firebase accounts allegedly being misused for cyber fraud. Criminals were using Firebase-hosted links to create fake banking and PM-KISAN apps that impersonated legitimate services. These scams were designed to steal personal information and money of users. The action followed multiple cyber-fraud notices and the detection of a recurring scam pattern. Google has been asked to remove the flagged accounts and links. The move highlights growing concerns over legitimate cloud services being abused for financial scams.

Researchers at IISc Bengaluru have created SraVaani, a multilingual speech-AI model which is intended to go beyond India's 22 scheduled languages. The model's training includes 65 Indian languages and dialects, many of which are regional languages with limited resources.
The aim is to enable AI to understand voices and accents which mainstream speech-recognition systems usually neglect. The SraVaani system was developed by the IISc SPIRE Lab together with ARTPARK and Google.
The technology has the potential to improve access to AI in rural and linguistically diverse areas of India. It might also be used for applications involving speech-to-text, language detection and AI for regional languages.
SraVaani marks a significant advancement in the way voice AI becomes more inclusive and focused on India.

Nvidia is reportedly preparing to raise prices of its AI servers by more than 15% as memory-chip costs surge.
The increase is expected to affect systems shipping from early 2027, including those using Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell chips.
Rising demand for AI infrastructure has pushed DRAM and other memory prices sharply higher.
Major server suppliers have already informed customers such as Microsoft, Google and Oracle about the expected increases.
The higher costs could make AI data-centre expansion more expensive and potentially delay some projects.
The move also highlights the growing influence of memory-chip makers such as Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron.

Chinese smartphone brand Honorβs humanoid robot Lightning, which reportedly ran 100 meters in 9.32 seconds, faster than Usain Boltβs 9.58-second record.
It hit a top speed of 14.5 m/s in a test run before the World Humanoid Robot Games. Earlier, Lightning won a 21-kilometre (13-mile) half marathon for humanoid robots in Beijing. However, the sprint was a robotic trial and is not considered an official human athletic record.
And after finishing the race, the robot was also seen crashing into a cushion.

Meta is to face a landmark trial in the US over claims that Facebook and Instagram were deliberately designed to encourage addictive use among children and teenagers.
A coalition of 29 states alleges Meta put profits and engagement ahead of the safety and privacy of young people. The case could bring about major changes in how Meta builds and operates its platforms.
Meta has said the allegations are overblown, and contends it has taken steps to protect young users. If meta loses potential penalties could reach $1.4 trillion, though prosecutors have suggested a far lower figure.

Brave has accused Alibaba-owned AliExpress of using hidden audio fingerprinting to track users.
The technique reportedly generates a silent audio signal and analyses how a device processes it. These tiny hardware and software differences can create a unique device fingerprint, without relying on cookies.
The discovery reportedly came after the process interfered with a userβs Bluetooth headphones. Brave says its browser blocks the identified tracking scripts and protects against audio fingerprinting by default.

India might be unable to meet its 2028 deadline for quantum-security, National Quantum Mission Chairman Ajai Chowdhry said.
βThere is no strong cycle in India for R&D funding, innovation and government procurement,β he said.
It is imperative that the country speed up the development and deployment of post-quantum cryptography before quantum computers become a threat to the encryption we use today.
Chowdhry also stressed the need for more private sector participation and investment.
Indiaβs quantum security readiness will be crucial to protect sensitive government, financial and digital infrastructure.

Pune-based Thrustworks Dynetics has successfully test-fired Indiaβs first Resonance Ignition System, achieving Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6. The technology uses shockwaves to ignite rocket engines without external ignition sources, electricity or moving parts. This could make engines lighter, simpler and more reliable for multiple restarts. The system could benefit upper-stage rockets, satellites, orbital manoeuvres and deep-space missions. Thrustworks says India is now among just three known entities globally to demonstrate resonance-based ignition technology.

ChatGPT could soon introduce Locked Chats, a new privacy feature currently being tested on Android. Users may be able to protect individual conversations with a PIN or fingerprint.
Locked chats would be hidden from the normal sidebar, chat history and search results. Unlike Temporary Chats, they would remain saved and accessible after authentication.
The feature may also create a separate Memory boundary for information from locked conversations. OpenAI has not officially announced a release date, so the feature could still change or be cancelled.
