Microsoft has been forced to make Windows 10 extended security updates free in Europe.
Most European Windows 10 users won't need to enable Windows Backup to join Microsoft's Extended Security Updates (ESU).
"We are pleased that Microsoft will offer a no-cost ESU option for Windows 10 consumer users in the EEA. We're also glad this option won't require backing up settings, apps, or credentials, or using Microsoft Rewards."
