RAM prices have been going up recently. The main reason is the huge demand from AI Data centers

smartphones will become more expensive. Some brands have already increased the prices of their existing models and upcoming models will be slightly more expensive than expected.

So how much of a price increase can we expect ?
Let’s take a 12+256GB (LPDDR5X + UFS 4.0) storage configuration, which currently costs around 500-600¥ (70-85$ Max). If prices increase by 50%, the cost would rise to roughly 800-1000¥ (110–140$). However, if prices double with a 100% hike, it could reach around 1200-1300¥ (170–185$), making it even more expensive than some mid-range chips like SD 8sGen4 and D8400.

Imagine Spending an extra 600¥ on a mid-range device. And it doesn’t stop there. Some brands will take advantage of this situation and charge as much as they want to increase profits.

this crisis will not end anytime soon. You may have to endure it for at least the next two years, or even longer.

On top of that, 2nm chips are coming next year, so we can expect a significant price hike in Flagship phones. So if you’ve already bought a new phone this year, that’s great. But if you plan to upgrade next year, you may end up paying more for the same storage variant.
