All you need to know about Aluminium OS:

Google is working on a new system called Aluminium OS, planned for release in 2026. This will replace ChromeOS and bring Android and Chromebook features into one single platform. Instead of Google having two different systems, Aluminium OS is meant to be the “one OS” that works across laptops, tablets, detachables, and even small desktop boxes. It’s built on Android, so all Android apps will run smoothly on bigger screens.

Google is also building Gemini AI directly into the system so it can help with writing, searching, organising, and doing small tasks in the background. It won’t just be an app — it will be part of the OS itself. Google’s internal testing shows ChromeOS is now being referred to as “ChromeOS Classic,” which makes it clear that Aluminium OS is the future.

Google has different performance levels planned, like AL Mass Premium and AL Premium, Al Entry, meaning this OS isn’t only for cheap Chromebooks — it will also be used on proper laptops and higher-end devices. Testing is already happening on boards powered by MediaTek and Intel chips, and Google is also working with Qualcomm to prepare for future ARM and AI-focused laptops.

The current plan is a public release in 2026, around the time of Android 17. Until then, Google is testing Aluminium OS on Android 16 builds. Existing Chromebooks may get limited upgrades or at least long-term security support while the switch happens. Google hasn’t revealed the new UI or how the migration from ChromeOS will work yet, but the goal is simple: one unified OS with a cleaner experience, smooth Android app support, and built-in AI tools to make everyday tasks easier.

Chinese phone prices are always lower compared to India and even globally, no other country matches them

Why China Gets Cheaper Phones

1) China has the entire global supply chain

They have full control, access to components early, and can stockpile the latest hardware months before it launches globally

This allows brands to build phones faster and at far lower cost

2) Chinese phones inside China are heavily subsidised.
Because they rely on their own apps, services, ads, and ecosystems, brands earn extra revenue

Outside China in markets like India, Android phones depend on Google services, so brands cannot use the same subsidy model

As a result, phones in China are sold cheaper to boost ecosystem lock-in

Market Size Difference

The Chinese smartphone market is massive and brands sell extremely high volumes

These huge volumes let them keep prices lower, which is not possible in India

Why Phones Are Costlier in India Now

India’s smartphone market is already saturated and growing very slowly

Companies are struggling to sell big volumes like before

So brands follow a new strategy:

Sell fewer phones, but at a higher price to maintain profit

But here is the real problem:

Consumer income is not rising

So fewer people are buying expensive new phones
