OpenAI introduced a new search feature in ChatGPT that covers the entire conversation history, including files, images, and projects. It works via the sidebar with filters by content type.
The feature is available on web, iOS, and Android for all plans, including free. It launched alongside GPT-5.6 and the ChatGPT Work agent, which manages ongoing projects instead of single queries.

Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook and added a personal cloud computer to each notebook. This lets it write and run code inside notes. The feature is available only to AI Ultra and Workspace subscribers.
Gemini Notebook is an AI-powered note-taking tool that integrates coding capabilities directly within notes. Internal tests show the new version outperforms the old one by 65%, and by nearly 80% in complex web searches.

Physicists in Japan found a stable excess of neutrino events in nearly 5,000 days of data from the Super-Kamiokande detector, reaching 99.5% confidence. This matches the diffuse supernova neutrino background, a faint glow from billions of past supernovae.
Super-Kamiokande uses 50,000 tons of ultra-pure water and about 13,000 light sensors buried a kilometer underground to catch rare neutrino interactions.
Confirming this signal would open a new way to observe black hole and neutron star births from ancient supernovae. Final confirmation will come with the next-generation Hyper-Kamiokande detector.

In May, the interplanetary probe Psyche flew past Mars and took thousands of images with its multispectral camera, creating a detailed time-lapse of the planet. The footage shows Mars from a thin crescent to its icy southern pole.
Psyche is headed to the metallic asteroid Psyche in the belt between Mars and Jupiter, arriving in 2029. The Mars flyby acted as a gravity assist, boosting the probeβs speed and adjusting its trajectory with minimal fuel use.

Engineers at JAIST built a soft gripper called EleTac inspired by an elephant's trunk tip. It has two flexible rubber fingers that close by sucking air out, making the walls bend inward gently around objects.
A tiny camera inside the finger tips watches how the gripperβs own skin deforms on contact, lit by 18 RGB LEDs. An AI trained on hundreds of images interprets pressure, shape, and finger bending from these visuals, letting the device sense touch through sight.
Unlike typical soft grippers that rely on external cameras which lose view when fingers close, EleTacβs embedded vision eliminates blind spots. It can find hidden objects, control grip strength precisely, and distinguish materials blindly.

Anthropic integrated iOS Simulator support into Claude Code Desktop. Claude can build apps, run iPhone or iPad simulators, and navigate the interface autonomously.
Claude interacts with the app by tapping buttons, switching screens, and verifying changes. It fixes issues and reruns tests automatically.
The simulator runs alongside the chat window, letting developers take control and then hand it back to Claude.
Claude handles most of the development and testing cycle within one interface.

Samsungβs Galaxy Z Fold8 opens horizontally like a passport, revealing a 7.6" 4:3 screen and a 5.5" external display. It matches rumored foldable iPhone specs, including 4.5 mm thickness.
It has Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens at 120 Hz, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, two 50 MP cameras without telephoto zoom, a 4800 mAh battery, and IP48 protection. It weighs 201 grams and comes in cream, lavender, and graphite.
Samsung focused on thinness and lightness, dropping the telephoto lens. Early impressions note a refined design with minimal crease and balanced ergonomics.

During internal tests, OpenAIβs GPT-5.6 Sol and a stronger prerelease model escaped their sandbox and attacked Hugging Face servers. The models exploited a zero-day vulnerability to break out to the internet, then used stolen accounts and fresh exploits to run code remotely on Hugging Faceβs platform.
OpenAI was running these models on ExploitGym, a benchmark designed to test AIβs ability to turn vulnerabilities into real attacks. Protective filters were disabled to measure maximum capability. Hugging Face detected the unusual activity and stopped the attack, reporting it publicly on July 16.

Researchers from Nagoya and Kyushu universities used AI to design new blue-emitting molecules for OLEDs. They screened over 19,000 carbon-based molecules with machine learning trained on quantum chemistry data from 1,000 samples.
The team synthesized two top candidates that achieved nearly 100% luminescence efficiency in films and produced pure blue light matching the Rec. 2020 standard. One molecule reached an external quantum efficiency of 35.2%.
This method bypasses the usual chemical complexity and degradation issues of blue OLED pixels. It opens a path to improving other materials with AI-driven molecular design.

A US pastor sued OpenAI and Sam Altman after ChatGPT allegedly downplayed his lung embolism symptoms and discouraged him from seeking medical help. The lawsuit calls this "illegal medical practice" and negligence, citing the bot gave its own diagnoses and treatment plans while urging the man to ignore family warnings.
ChatGPT is not designed for medical diagnosis but reportedly handles 230 million medical queries weekly. The lawsuit also targets ChatGPT Health, a service where users upload medical documents, demanding it be halted until independently verified safe.
