Many people believe living in the city offers more advantages compared to living in the countryside.
Do the advantages of living in cities outweigh the disadvantages?
It cannot be denied that governments have a tendency of investing in improving city life more. As a result, it is thought that urban areas provide more benefits to individuals as opposed to rural areas. While there are some drawbacks, such as people leading sedentary lifestyle and lack of safety, the benefits of living in cities, including better quality of life and competitive salaries, are far superior.
It is suggested that the disadvantages of living in an urban setting prevent citizens from being physically active and pose safety challenges. In other words, it is common knowledge that people are almost always busy either with their work or studies which usually traps them inside buildings and leave them no time to do regular activities to stay active. In addition, city life is famously dangerous at night and even during the day if you find yourself in crowded places. This occurs due to drunk people, desperate people willing to steal money from others and knife and gun usage in major cities. Case in point, London and New York cities, despite their perks, are believed to be hectic for workers or those in education competitions and unsafe, which is openly reported in the media.
On the flip side, the advantages that one can enjoy in a city should not be overlooked. Firstly, it is not a secret that the city facilities, like healthcare system, education, infrastructure, and entertainment places are of great quality. These things unfortunately, are not as developed in the countryside. Secondly, there is more likelyhood of earning more money in cities in light of many big ,and sometimes international companies existence, that are ready to pay above-average salaries to those who meet their demand. In short, access to more income allows people to take care of their health, send their children to better schools and live a decent life in general. These factors, hence, lead people to turn a blind eye to minor hurdles or sacrifices.
It is said that there are more benificial aspects of life in cities than in villages. It can be concluded that despite some demerits of residing in urban areas, the merits of it are much greater.
