Joshua Schulte, Largest Leaker of CIA Material in History, Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison
Joshua Schulte, who was convicted of orchestrating the largest leak of classified material in CIA history, was sentenced to 40 years in prison Thursday (Feb 1).
Schulte, 35, handed WikiLeaks a trove of CIA cyber espionage tools known as Vault 7. He was convicted in July 2022 of illegally handling classified information and obstruction of justice after an earlier trial had ended in a hung jury.
WikiLeaks began publishing the classified data from the stolen CIA files, the first of 26 disclosures, on March 7, 2017.
The trove of information revealed that the CIA had hacked smartphones in spying operations, and revealed the spy agency's efforts to turn internet-connected televisions into listening devices, according to The Associated Press.

President Putin further confirms what we all knew - western leaders, particularly in the US, are controlled by their agencies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is skillfully in control of this interview by inserting pieces of information about Tucker Carlson to Tucker Carlson - namely that he at one time wanted to join the CIA. Putin further confirms what was already well-known - US leaders are controlled by their agencies and the CIA conducted a coup in Ukraine in 2008 and 2014.
When asked about who is driving the major decisions in America, for example, Putin says he does not know. He is being modest and strategic. Putin likely understands that understating his knowledge at times is beneficial so as not to reveal what he knows and what information he and his agencies are able to gather.
