Australia’s Authoritarian “Misinformation” Bill Has Fewer Protections Against Self-Incrimination Than For Murderers or Arsonists

The very foundations of free speech in Australia are under threat, warn legal experts, as the country considers adopting a chilling law that aims to tackle online “misinformation.” The proposed legislation could expose Australians, who are accused of disseminating misinformation on the web, to sometimes graver legal consequences than those suspected of severe criminal offenses, such as arson or even murder, the Daily Telegraph Australia reported.

Protection against self-incrimination is a key principle in Australian law, rooted in English common law traditions. It ensures individuals aren’t compelled to provide evidence or answer questions that might incriminate themselves in criminal proceedings. The Evidence Act and various regulatory statutes in Australia explicitly protect this right. However, there are exceptions, such as some regulatory contexts where individuals can be compelled to provide evidence, though with safeguards like “use immunity” to prevent the evidence from being used against them in criminal proceedings. Australia’s High Court has emphasized the importance of this right, even as debates emerge regarding its balance with community safety concerns, especially in contexts like terrorism and organized crime.

A profound concern among critics is the expansive power the draft bill confers upon government media regulators. They would wield the authority to summon anyone believed to have insights into the spread of “misinformation or disinformation.” Failing to appear when called would lead to hefty fines, escalating beyond $9,390 daily.

This development has stirred significant contention, as the bill seems to undermine the cherished “right to silence” principle, which shields Australians suspected of crimes.

Earlier this month, a federal judge in the Southern District Court of New York ruled that four Americans who visited Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in London may proceed with their lawsuit in which they sued the CIA for violating their 4th Amendment right, which protects all Americans from unlawful searches and seizures.

Prof. Arne Burkhardt said vasculitis of the small blood vessels in the brain was one of the most alarming findings in his study. This condition was observed in almost all of his patients who died after vaccination.

“In many of these cases which have more pronounced inflammation of the vessels of the brain, there have been transient defects like loss of speech for a few hours, unconsciousness for some hours, blindness for some hours.”

Additionally, Prof. Burkhardt says that this may be why some people reported experiencing a change in character or personality post vaccination.

As 2023 comes to an end, one of the most significant victories this year was the acquittal of Prof. Sucharit Bhakdi.

The moment the judge read the not guilty verdict, those inside the court room could hear a crowd of hundreds of supporters outside the court house erupting into cheers and applause.

A year prior to the trial, I researched the case thoroughly with the help of a fantastic and very skilled German translator. In May, I covered the hearing in Germany with the help of Jutta Degner, CHD Europe’s head of translations, who translated the court proceedings for me from German to English. I extend my thanks and gratitude to Jutta and the others who helped break the language barrier for me and the CHD Europe social media team for promptly crafting informative social media posts live during the hearing.

“The judge explained that Prof. Bhakdi was not liable for either charge and did not do what he was accused of. The judge referenced the importance of free speech and freedom of expression. He stated that Prof. Bhakdi advocated for peace and unity and expressed himself in a manner that allowed for open discussion. Prof. Bhakdi sought to create an atmosphere in which people can have open dialogue and embrace one another.”

At the beginning of the new year 2024, the German gynecologist Ronald Weikl M.D. takes stock of the findings from 4 years of “Corona” and makes an urgent call to all fellow human beings in Germany, but also worldwide.

Today would have been Prof. Arne Burkhardt’s 80th birthday.

He dedicated the final years of his life seeking answers about the mRNA vaccines role in causing death or disease in the patients he examined.

He inspired deep affection, respect and admiration from the many doctors, scientists and medical professionals who worked with him to stop the harm and death that was and is underway.

It is now up to other pathologists to follow his leadership and bring the full truth to light. It is on the rest of us to support them in the endeavor.

Prof. Arne Burkhardt demanded high moral and professional standards in the medical profession, and he himself set the example.
