βœ… New rule change, agreed right away: Same rules as now (no real change)

Why it matters
Nothing would change: the text equals the rules already in force. Often a test of the voting itself.

Takes effect at block #6,356 (~4 days). Until then the current rules apply.
Proposed at block #1,358 by 8df32d…02a3, agreed at block #1,360 with 1 of 1 vote needed.

Rule text diff: none. The text equals the rules in force.

One yes vote is enough: the testnet has one validator, and any account may vote. Tau HUD has applied to become a second validator; then a change would need two yes votes.

Another round of updates on Tau HUD (https://tauhud.com). A lot has landed since the last post:

β€’ Chinese version: the whole site, the story video and the press kit are now in Chinese, with the Chinese colour convention (red = live). https://tauhud.com/?lang=zh

β€’ Feature films: nine short films with sound, one per feature (validator seat, writing your own proposal, rule check, explorer, accounts, time travel, chain core, nodes, plus β€œTau in 60 seconds”), in English and Chinese, free to use: https://tauhud.com/press

β€’ Simulation on every page: switch to Simulation in the header and every page runs on the same made-up, protocol-true chain, including refused transactions and a daily programme of rule changes (proof of stake on at 10:30 UTC, back to the fixed list at 16:30 UTC), announced in advance on the page and in the channel, clearly marked as simulation.

β€’ Explorer v2: ask β€œwhat happened to my transaction?” and see its whole path from queue to block, including why the network let it through. It also shows which transactions the alpha node keeps listing as pending after they were sealed (IDNI #81). https://tauhud.com/explorer

β€’ Accounts: a rich list with balances and shares (test tokens, no value). https://tauhud.com/account

β€’ Playground: on the validator seat you can now write your own proposal (fee, validator in or out, or a free rule), checked live, then voted on. https://tauhud.com/playground

β€’ Nodes: the page now counts the whole network as our node sees it. Right now that is two nodes, the IDNI bootnode and ours. Yours would be the first community node: https://tauhud.com/nodes

β€’ Next rule change in sight: every page shows the next agreed rule change before it takes effect, with a countdown from the real block pace. The testnet health score now accounts for the mempool bug.

β€’ Time travel and stats stay readable at ten thousand blocks: zoom, an overview bar, block times as median with spread. https://tauhud.com/history

We also applied for a validator seat (IDNI #80), so the testnet would have a second validator once accepted.

One of the films: take a validator seat, propose a rule, watch it become law by agreement. All nine, in English and Chinese: https://tauhud.com/press
At the moment we are the only running network node besides IDNI itself.

In about 20 minutes the simulated chain switches back from proof of stake to the fixed validator list. Simulation only, not the real testnet, but the mechanics are the real ones: a proposal, validator votes, then the switch at a set block. Watch it happen: https://tauhud.com/proposals/?mode=sim

In 10 minutes the simulated chain returns to its fixed validator list

Why it matters
The chain goes back to a fixed validator list: a known set seals blocks again instead of the richest accounts. Tau treats a consensus switch like any other rule change: proposed, voted on by the validators, then in force.

What to watch
β€’ Proposals: the simulated validators vote, then the switch takes effect at 16:30 UTC
β€’ Chain core on the HUD: the validator ring seals the blocks again

Proposed 16:20 UTC Β· in force 16:30 UTC Β· proof of stake takes over again at 10:30 UTC

πŸ§ͺ SIMULATION Β· not the real testnet
In 10 minutes the simulated chain switches to proof of stake

Why it matters
The chain changes how it picks who seals blocks: the six richest accounts take over from the fixed validator list. Tau treats a consensus switch like any other rule change: proposed, voted on by the validators, then in force.

What to watch
β€’ Proposals: the simulated validators vote, then the switch takes effect at 10:30 UTC
β€’ Chain core on the HUD: the proposer changes from the validator list to the richest accounts

Proposed 10:20 UTC Β· in force 10:30 UTC Β· the fixed validator list returns at 16:30 UTC

You decide
Vote yes or no on tauhud.com until 10:27 UTC: the simulated validators follow the visitors' majority. More no than yes, and the switch is dropped.

🎯 Forecasts
Yesterday's best forecasters: 1. Silent Whale 2

37 smaller changes to Tau HUD since 2026-10-28

β€’ HUD: The Daily Consensus now advertises itself on the HUD: the free space at the bottom of Rules in force now carries a 1920s newspaper advertisement in the HUD's black and white, with the blackletter masthead, a double-ruled dateline, the latest edition's headline and, where the box is tall, the EXTRA stamp, the front-page photo and its deck.
β€’ HUD: The newspaper block in Rules in force now is no longer an advertisement but a clipping of the front page lying on the HUD: grey-white newsprint with torn edges and a slight tilt, the blackletter masthead, double rules, EXTRA, the headline in the newspaper's own type, the halftone photo and the opening paragraph in two columns with a drop cap.
β€’ Vote: Hover texts on Vote and Nodes now sit right next to the cursor on wide screens; before, they drifted further away the wider the screen.
β€’ Visits: Tau HUD now counts its visitors, without cookies and without storing anything in your browser: how often each page is opened and how often it stays open for 30 seconds, which site a visit came from (only its name), language and screen size, kept as daily totals on the Tau HUD server.
β€’ HUD: Hovers in Chain core now say how healthy the state is.
β€’ What if: The What if tour now says short split where it said fork, like the page itself: two blocks at one height that the next block settles are not the fork Tau avoids, and changing the rules never needs one.
β€’ Newspaper: The Daily Consensus now comes out every Monday.
β€’ Newspaper: The Daily Consensus on phones is now read like a real newspaper: the paper fills the whole screen (the βœ• brings the menu back), shows the whole page, and a double tap or two fingers bring a column closer.
