Recently SC rejected a petition for termination of pregnancy filed by a women went undetected due to lactational amenorrhea. However, the medical termination of pregnancy (amendment) act raised the gestational limit for legal abortion to 24 weeks for particular groups of "vulnerable women."
The goal of this amendment was to increase the variety of reproductive options. However, despite these adjustments, the Indian context still faces numerous difficulties.
