🗣 Key takeaways from statements by Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, November 10:

▪️The outcome of the presidential election in the United States will hardly have a global effect in the future

▪️US President-elect Donald Trump is less predictable in terms of delivering on his election campaign promises than incumbent US leader Joe Biden or Trump’s Democratic rival in the election, Kamala Harris

▪️Russia will see whether Trump will deliver on his election pledges while proceeding with its own business

▪️Trump differs favorably from the current US administration in that he has been speaking of peace rather than confrontation

US President-elect Donald Trump may circumvent congressional restrictions on withdrawing the United States from NATO, Politico reported.

In 2023, the US authored legislation requiring that any presidential decision to exit NATO must have either two-thirds Senate approval or be authorized through an act of Congress, the newspaper said. Lawmakers passed the measure as part of the fiscal 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, which President Joe Biden signed into law. However, legal experts warn that Trump could try to sidestep Congress’s NATO guardrail, citing presidential authority over foreign policy.
