دانشجویان و داوطلبان کارشناسی و کارشناسی ارشد در انتخاب دانشگاه به دو نکته توجه داشته باشند:
1- مراکز آموزش عالی غیرانتفاعی (به غیر از دانشگاه آزاد)، موسسه (Institute) هستند و نه دانشگاه (University) و اگر به تابلوی سردر این مراکز توجه کنید نوشته شده موسسه آموزش عالی غیر انتفاعی ... و اعتبار آن مخصوصا در خارج از کشور از دانشگاه پایین تر است.
2- دانشگاه پیام نور نیز چون ضوابط آن بر اساس دانشگاه مکاتبه ای و مجازی پایه گذاری شده در بسیاری از مراکز داخلی و خارجی اعتبار آن پایین تر از دانشگاه های حضوری می باشد.
