«کلمن بارکس» شاعر امریکایی و استاد بازنشسته زبان انگلیسی دانشگاه جورجیا اشعار #مولوی را برگردانده به انگلیسی بازسروده است. یکی از دلایل مشهور شدن این اشعار میان انگلیسی‌ها، برگردان‌های بسیار جذاب انگلیسی از جمله همین برگردان‌های «بارکس» بوده که البته او را بیشتر با نام «رومی» می‌شناسند.
کلمن بارکس» مولانا را از طریق «رابرت بلای» نویسنده و شاعر نروژی الاصل امریکا شناخت. بلای در سال ۱۹۷۶ ترجمه انگلیسی «رینولد نیکلسن» از مثنوی مولانا را به بارکس می‌گوید که این کلمات باید از قفس خود رها شوند. بارکس که زبان فارسی نمی‌داند، پس از دیدار با «رابرت بلای» با استفاده از ترجمه‌های قبلی، شروع به ترجمه اشعار عرفانی مولانا کرده که در بیست مجلد منتشر شده و تاکنون بیش از نیم میلیون نسخه از مجموعه کتاب‌ها و آثار مولانا به زبان کلمن بارکس در امریکا به فروش رسیده‌‌ و یکی از پرفروش‌ترین کتب آمریکا شده است.

نشریه امریکایی «بوک لیست» در معرفی ترجمه بارکس می‌نویسد: «ما بی هیچ تردید‌، امتیازی ویژه به کلمن بارکس می‌دهیم، زیرا کاری کرده تا برگردانی مدرن، زنده و دریافتنی از آثار شعری رومی، بهترین و شناخته‌‌شده‌ترین شاعر عرفانی جهان‌ را در دسترس خوانندگان آمریکایی قرار دهد‌». بارکس به همراه بلای در ۲۷ اردیبهشت سال ۱۳۸۵ از ایران دیدن کرد و در حین این سفر و به هنگام بازدید آن‌ها از دانشگاه تهران، دکترای افتخاری دانشگاه تهران رشته زبان و ادبیات فارسی به کلمن بارکس اهدا‌ شد. رابرت بلای که برنده چندین جایزه معتبر شعر آمریکاست، درباره ترجمه اشعار مولانا توسط بارکس نوشته‌ است: «کلمن بارکس رومی را شناور بر دریاچه جورجیا یافت و او را به زندگی بازگرداند. چه نعمت بزرگی! کلمن بارکس براساس شعر مولانا همه شب را بیدار ماند تا خوانندگان مشعوف شوند‌».

XVI COMPLUTENSE TRANSLATION CONFERENCE / PACOR2018

The Instituto Universitario de Lenguas Modernas y Traductores (IULMYT), with the support of the Faculty of Philology and the Department of English Studies at Complutense University of Madrid, is pleased to announce the "XVI ENCUENTROS COMPLUTENSES EN TORNO A LA TRADUCCIÓN/ PaCOR 2018 (Complutense Translation Conference)", which will be held in the Ciudad Universitaria Campus, (Madrid) on 5, 6 and 7 November 2018.

In addition to the traditional studies on translation/interpreting in general, this year the conference will focus on the role of corpora in translation and interpreting studies. The conference will run in parallel to the International Symposium on Parallel Corpora: Creation and Applications (PaCOR 2018), dedicated to studies on the creation, annotation and exploitation of parallel and comparable corpora for a wide range of theoretical and applied purposes.

CONFERENCE THEMES
We welcome submissions addressing the central focus of the conference along the following (but not limited) research strands:
1. Corpus use in translation/interpreting theory, practice and didactics
2. Literary translation
3. Corpus use in specialized translation
4. Corpus use in bilingual (e-)lexicography and terminology
5. Corpus-based contrastive studies
6. Corpus use in foreign language learning/teaching
7. Intercultural studies and multilingual communication using corpora
8. Translation technologies and corpora
9. Creation, annotation and exploitation of comparable and parallel corpora, including learner corpora

A selection of papers based on contributions presented in this conference will be published in a special issue of an international journal and/or a prestigious academic publisher.

TYPES OF PRESENTATIONS

There will be several categories of presentation:

Full paper (25 minutes including Q & A time)
Short paper (15 minutes including Q & A time)

Themed and roundtable sessions
Workshops
We invite submission of abstracts for all these presentation categories on any topic relevant to the conference themes. All abstracts will be peer reviewed.

Reviewing will be double blind, so the papers should not reveal the authors’ identity. Participants may submit abstracts for no more than one single-authored paper and one joint-authored paper.

Double submission policy: Parallel submission to other meetings or publications is possible but must be immediately notified to the symposium organisers.

Due to the widespread use of English in this field, the organizing team recommends English for submissions. Nevertheless Spanish and other European languages are also accepted.
