TTL. Can you tell us about yourself briefly?
A: My name is Amanuel Dawit (AMAN), I am a young electronic music producer and DJ.
I was born and raised in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. I started making music when I was 14, At 14
I didn’t had a laptop to work with so I use to use my friend’s laptop to produce my music.
When I saved some money and bought my first laptop which was ACER with 28 GB of hard disk and 500mb ram. Even though it lags a lot I managed to make remix songs from 90’s music era.
I didn’t put them out to the public because it wasn’t my plan to come out as a music remixer. After a while I leveled up and develop my skills by learning from other DJ’s and producers near me And watching how the major artists move and work all that led me to be a full time music producer with my own music style. I was reaching to the local famous artists that already are in the Industry and the artists that are young and beginner like me. Reaching out and building my network led me to meet and collaborate on my first official music.

TTL. Can you tell us about what you are currently working on?
A: I am currently working on couple of singles with major artists and one EP with another amazing young talented artist he is known by the name NEGUS.

TTL. How was life as a child? Had it any functional relation with your profession?
A: As a child I was making rap music from online samples then after a while I grouped up with one of my friend Kaleb Moges who led me to the EDM genera of music.

TTL. Is there any situation that you used your professional prospects to mobilize society? Or to impact towards any set goal?
A: since there is no international DJ and producer representing Ethiopian music and flag I want to show the world what a young Ethiopian DJ &producer can do.
And I want to show the peoples that believe ‘’African people are still stuck with basic needs’’ I want show them that we can be part of the world industry and we can make music that have a big impact on the world.

TTL. Can you describe the time when you first realized that creating Music was something you absolutely had to do?
A: First I was just messing with music as a hobby and then when I acknowledge that I have a talent I wanted to have influence on the world by making music , I decided that music will be my full time career.

TTL. What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever created?
A: Right now my favorite and first official released music ‘’KALE’’ I made it with BEKI (Bekure Amanuel) which is out now on YouTube, check it out.

TTL. What software do you use?
What you don’t use but wish you could?
A: I currently use FL studio 20 for music production and I use Protools for recording.
I planning to use Cubase 5 in the near future.

TTL. Do you have any specific mood or time to do your works?
A: I prefer working at a night time and I am always in the mood to a make good music

TTL. What are you trying to communicate with your Art/Music?
A: I am trying to free the people from there day to day problems, stress and to motivate them when they listen to my music.

TTL. Where do you find ideas for your work?
A: I listen to a lot of music any type of music genera so there is no one specific source for my ideas.

TTL. What’s the best advice you ever had about how to be more creative?
A: There was one line I always remember from AVICII’s Wake me up music it goes like ‘’... I can’t tell where the journey will end but I know where to start… “.

TTL. What do you read?
What do you listen?
A: Most of the time I prefer to read philosophy and psychology. I listen to new EDM and other music.

How can people have access to your works?
A: I am on most of the social medias people can find me on Instagram by @amanoffical_page and as AMAN on other social medias (Telegram, Spotify, YouTube and Facebook..)
