Move your message history from other apps to Telegram
Millions of people are switching every day and now their old chats from WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk can come with them – along with all their friends and family. 😉
This update also gives you more control of your data: secret chats, groups you created and call history can be deleted for all sides at any time.
Voice Chats now appear at the top of your Call History page, and both members and admins can individually adjust other users’ microphone levels.
After one of your contacts joins Telegram, you can open the chat and send a friendly greeting sticker with one tap. 👋
For the full details on how to migrate messages from other apps, plus new Android Animations, Accessibility Improvements and more, check out our blog:

Moving Chat History from Other Apps
Over 100 million new users joined Telegram this January, seeking more privacy and freedom. But what about the messages and memories that remain in older apps? Starting today, everyone can bring their chat history from apps like WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk.

The "capitalism <-> socialism" opposition seems outdated. I prefer to think in terms of "centralization vs decentralization". Humans have evolved to perform best in small groups of less than 150 people. That's why wherever there's centralization and excessive hierarchy, there's inefficiency and underutilized human potential. Capitalist monopolies and socialist dictatorships are equally bad.
In a natural environment, every small community is able to produce an outstanding leader and an independent thinker. In today's world of trillion-dollar monopolies and bloated governments, the potential of hundreds of millions of people is suppressed by the limitations imposed by our artificial societal structures.
That is the reason why tens of thousands of people working at big corporations such as Facebook have failed to keep up with what our small team at Telegram has been implementing. That’s also the reason why countries like Russia fail to generate and retain global brands in their jurisdictions. Genuine creativity is rare in organizations and societies built on excessive hierarchies and lack of personal autonomy.

Telegram became the most downloaded mobile app in the world in January 2021.
For the last 7.5 years, Telegram has steadily climbed the rankings for popular apps. Since its launch in 2013, Telegram’s user base has grown over 40% each year.
What’s our secret? Consistency.
For the last 7.5 years we’ve consistently defended the privacy of our users and regularly improved the quality and feature set of our apps.
Anyone who stays true to their values and regularly applies focused effort over a long period of time is bound to succeed in their area. This is true for any human occupation – sport, blogging, art, coding, business or studying.

With today’s update, we're giving every Telegram user the power to run their own radio station (later this Spring: TV station) without adding any complexity to our apps.
I’m proud we were able to roll out this new version of Telegram just 3 weeks after our previous major update. What’s more, this came at no expense to the quality of new features – you’ll experience the high speed, wide functionality and slick animations that you love Telegram for.
The update has been approved by both Apple and Google for several hours now. Due to Apple’s tech issues, iOS users may have to wait a few more hours for the new version to hit the store. Users of all other platforms can already enjoy Voice Chats 2.0 and other features.

Voice Chats 2.0: Channels, Millions of Listeners, Recorded Chats, Admin Tools
Voice Chats first appeared in December, adding a new dimension of live talk to Telegram groups. Starting today, they become available in channels too – and there are no more limits on the number of participants. This update also brings recordable voice chats…
Steve Jobs’s “reality distortion field” was a personal refusal to accept limitations that stood in the way of his ideas, to convince himself that any difficulty was surmountable. This “field” was so strong that he was able to convince others that they, too, could achieve the impossible. It was an internal reality so powerful it also became an external reality.

Putin and KGB will be in power until opposition learns how to leverage internet.
People like Novalny have used social media to "promote" lavish lifestyles of Russian political elite. It doesn't work.
Existing hierarchy is thoroughly corrupt. There's no prize in getting to the top of the Russian political hierarchy - it's rotten. I think it's wrong to think that if a good honest people reach the top of existing political hierarchy they'll reform the country. I doubt that it will work. Whoever that gets Putin's seat will become new Putin 4-5 years.
There's no need to fight system head on, new alternative system must be built.
Just like with a startup it has to solve problem 10-100 better than existing solution.
It's not only Russian issue, wherever you look people are complaining about corrupt and inefficient government.
I think there're several things that would have to be changed:
- Parliaments should no longer vote for laws, but only prepare them;
- People should be able to vote for and against any law in the country;
- No need for president/prime minister/secretary, there should be an executive for every branch of government like: head of health; head of education; Military; Police, etc;

- Court systems must be reformed with use of computer algorisms. We know terrible stats when judges are tired or hungry they tend to give harsher decisions. Computer systems are never tired, they're hard to bribe unlike humans. The only thing we need lawyers and judges is to help write rules and make sure that system works correctly;
- Most of the governance systems must be executed using smart contracts;
- Tax collection must be in trackable crypto, so when you pay your taxes you know exactly where your money went. That way we are more likely to pay taxes and you feel ownership of your country. And if somehow money you paid in taxes went straight in to a beach resort or expensive restaurant you can track the corrupt government official by click of a button.
We do not have to wait for existing political leaders to implement the change. They will never do it even if they promise, because it's against interests of existing ruling class! These new systems must be invented and implemented in parallel with existing governments. After a while they will take over not just whole country but the whole world.

I dont want to save Russia. I only suggest how to save people from aggressive Russian government.
My main premise is when hierarchy becomes corrupt there's no use wasting lives and energy to get to the top. It's better to think of new alternative way to organize and live a better life. I obviously do not claim that all my suggestions are great, but I try to explore new options instead of repeating same old fights for generations.
Telegram messenger is a true example of new order. Russian government couldn't beat it because it was so superiors technologically. And today most of the Russian government officials are using Telegram. We need more companies like Telegram.

This is how Russian migration officers treat people from Uzbekistan.
What happens in the video: Officer demands to show driving license and guy replies " I showed you my passport, why do you need my passport" to which officer replies " you want to act like a smartass? $ and starts beating the guy from Uzbekistan. 🤬🤬🤬 In my life in Russia I've seen acts of russian racism towards foreigners so many times that I got used to it.

Some members of Russian so called "Inteligencia" claim that Russia has brought civilization to Caucasus. They say such nonsense because they don't know history of their country or more likely choose to ignore the fact that their "civilized" country have killed 90% of Circassians.

A little dive into Integrated information theory.
Five essential properties("axioms") of consciousness according to Giulio Tononi:
1. Intrinsic existence. Consciousness exists;
2. Composition. It's structured;
3. Information. Every experience is specific;
4. Integration. It's always one and cannot be subdivided into components or reduced;
5. Exclusion. Experience is unique.

Giulio Tononi - Is Consciousness Entirely Physical?
Here's the big question about consciousness, our inner experience of what things feel like. Is consciousness a product of the physical world alone? Because if consciousness is the output of the physical brain by itself, however complex, then consciousness…

The Man in the Iron Lung Just Died
Paul may no longer with us, but his story still lives on.
Paul was a polio survivor who spent everyday in an iron lung, a device from the early 1900's which kept him alive.
Not only did he go on to do great things, his outlook on life was inspiring.
