Pre-Bunking & Other New Search Engine Censorship Techniques
@takebackourtech | LIVE

From last week's interview, Colin & I discuss Google's new censorship techniques birthed from its Jigsaw division, which sees itself as an 'internet justice league'.

We have a laugh on their latest article about 'Conspiracy Theories', as they downplay belief in 9/11 truth and the 'New World Order' while focusing on QAnon.

We're reaching an internet era where the biggest companies think they have a right to dictate what the truth is and that they know better than anyone else. Over the next few years, you will see startling control over information unless you decide to seek truth using alternative methods. Presearch will be one of those alternative methods.

In the fall of 2020, gig workers in Venezuela posted a series of images to online forums where they gathered to talk shop. The photos were mundane, if sometimes intimate, household scenes captured from low angles—including some you really wouldn’t want shared on the Internet.

In one particularly revealing shot, a young woman in a lavender T-shirt sits on the toilet, her shorts pulled down to mid-thigh.

The images were not taken by a person, but by development versions of iRobot’s Roomba J7 series robot vacuum. They were then sent to Scale AI, a startup that contracts workers around the world to label audio, photo, and video data used to train artificial intelligence.  https://www.technologyreview.com/2022/12/19/1065306/roomba-irobot-robot-vacuums-artificial-intelligence-training-data-privacy/

Where's The Nearest Cell Tower @takebackourtech | EXERCISE

I'm always looking for ways to improve health factors, and one such factor is proximity to a cell tower. Because cell towers are so powerful and radiate continuously, they can be very damaging to our health.

Here are some resources to locate the nearest cell tower to your house - please keep in mind that none of these sources are complete, and you may have to dig more.

Cell Mapper - the most comprehensive map, however you have to filter by the cellular provider (remember to go through the main providers for your country). The map also starts off in Africa for some reason.

TowerMaps - another good map with 350K antennas, it doesn't include info about the towers, just locations

ScadaScore - features 25K towers with information, uses publicly available data from the FCC

Exercise: Find the 3 nearest radio tower to your house. There were 2 at least within a mile for me...

Big Brother is protecting you’: NYC Mayor Eric Adams pledges stronger policing, more technology in 2023

How his aspirations play out in a city where fears of increasing crime followed wide-scale protests against police violence in 2020 remains to be seen.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams blames the rise in crime on problems he inherited from his predecessor, Bill de Blasio, who had a famously fraught relationship with the NYPD.

The new mayor has walked a line between police ally and critic — passionately defending the force while also calling cop culture to task. He often harkens back to his own abuse at the hands of police officers in the 1970s and years spent calling for change during his 22 years inside the department. As mayor, he admonished officers he feels are wasting time on their phones .

Progressive Democrats had warned last year Adams would turn the city into a police state, but concerns about crime overpowered them. And Adams believes he has a mandate to make change.

How his aspirations play out in a city where fears of increasing crime followed wide-scale protests against police violence in 2020 remains to be seen.

In an interview with POLITICO, Adams promised an expansion of technology-assisted policing to detect weapons. Over the past year, he has promoted the use of cameras and lauded divisive facial recognition devices .

“It blows my mind how much we have not embraced technology, and part of that is because many of our electeds are afraid. Anything technology they think, ‘Oh it’s a boogeyman. It’s Big Brother watching you,’” Adams said. “No, Big Brother is protecting you.”

U.S. Scientists Are Already Altering the Weather and Nobody Seems to Care

📡
@G3News: Weather modification was banned as a weapon of war by the United Nations in 1978. It has sparked concern over the potential for "rain theft."

Still, a number of countries—including China and the United Arab Emirates—and U.S. states—like Texas and Arizona—have thrown their weight behind cloud-seeding.

Cloud-seeding is a form of geoengineering that involves planting chemicals in clouds that encourage water droplets to clump together and fall as rain—as a tool for combating drought, averting storms, and keeping hydro power plants running.

While the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology garnered controversy this year for hinting at its use of cloud-seeding to break up long periods of drought during summer, Idaho Power openly seeds its clouds during winter. By launching silver iodide—a compound that mimics the structure of ice molecules and gloms onto them, weighing them down until they fall—into clouds during colder conditions, the utility triggers snowfall.

“Cloud seeding is just another arrow in the quiver,” Derek Blestrud, senior atmospheric scientist at Idaho Power told Vice. “It’s just another tool that we can use in the whole portfolio of the water system and our portfolio of power generation.”

New Material Removes 99.9% Of Microplastics From Water
@takebackourtech | SOURCE

Researchers in South Korea have developed a new material that can remove 99.9% of pollutants like microplastics from water in 10 seconds.

“The technology we developed here is an unrivaled water purification technology with the world's highest purification efficiency, removing more than 99.9% of phenolic microplastics and VOC contaminants in water at ultra-high speeds,” said Professor Park Chi-Young, lead author of the study. “We expected that it will be a universal technology with high economic efficiency that can purify contaminated water and supply drinking water even in areas where there is no power supply.”

Google Faces Another Lawsuit For Tracking Children
@takebackourtech | SOURCE

Google is set to face a class action lawsuit that accuses the tech behemoth of collecting information and tracking children’s behavior online without consent, according to the decision of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The lawsuit was filed in 2019 by children, through their parents, against Google, YouTube as well as other firms with channels on the video streaming platform like Cartoon Network, Hasbro, DreamWorks Animation, and Mattel Inc. The companies are blamed for running targeted ads on children based on Google’s “persistent identifiers.” The decision comes a year after another court had dismissed the suit.

These identifiers refer to unique IMEI numbers of a device or the IP address that allows Google to track the behavior of a user over as much as 80 percent of the internet, thereby enabling the creation of profiles used in targeted advertising.

By tracking the online behavior of children without the consent of parents, Google and other firms are said to have violated the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other similar state laws.
