Start with simple habits that work together: use a Linux-based computer, block unnecessary scripts in your browser, use a VPN, enable your firewall, avoid random browser extensions, double-check URLs, and don’t trust random downloads online.

Most viruses, malware, and data collection risks come from everyday habits. The best protection is open-source tools, safer defaults, and using your computer more intentionally.

You don’t need special or hard-to-reach cybersecurity tools to protect your home computer. Most things you already have, or can easily get, can help protect your data.
