⚡️Health Tech or Surveillance?
@takebackourtech

Pacemakers prove that critical health devices don’t need direct internet connections. They use medical-grade frequencies, not WiFi or Bluetooth, because traditional wireless signals could be harmful to the heart. Yet, we’re being pushed toward always-connected health devices.

From wearables to brain-computer interfaces, Big Tech isn’t just improving lives—it’s building an infrastructure for constant data collection. The Internet of Bodies is about more than health—it’s about control.

This clip comes from my recent report, How Big Tech Plans to Read Your Mind.

Here come the 15-minute Smart "Freedom Cities"

‘Startup Nation’ Groups Say They’re Meeting Trump Officials to Push for Deregulated ‘Freedom Cities’

"Several groups representing “startup nations”—tech hubs exempt from the taxes and regulations that apply to the countries where they are located—are drafting Congressional legislation to create “freedom cities” in the US that would be similarly free from certain federal laws, WIRED has learned.

According to interviews and presentations viewed by WIRED, the goal of these cities would be to have places where anti-aging clinical trials, nuclear reactor startups, and building construction can proceed without having to get prior approval from agencies like the Food and Drug Administration, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Trey Goff, the chief of staff of the startup nation known as Próspera, tells WIRED that he and other Próspera representatives working under an advocacy group called the Freedom Cities Coalition have been meeting with the Trump administration about the idea in recent weeks. He claims the administration has been very receptive. In 2023, Trump floated the idea of creating 10 freedom cities. Now, Goff says that Próspera’s vision is to create “not just 10, but as many as the market can handle.” They hope to have drafted legislation ready by the end of the year.

Freedom Cities Coalition was created by an entity called NeWay Capital LLC, which owns several trademarks for Próspera. Since opening on the Honduran island of Roatán in 2020, Próspera has been attracting tech workers and startups by promising low taxes, few regulations, and a businesslike government that considers its citizens to be akin to customers. Its financiers include Pronomos Capital, a venture capital firm backed by Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen, and Coinbase."

⚡️ Mind-Tracking Tech in Your Earbuds? @takebackourtech

Apple has filed patents for AirPods that can monitor brainwaves, heart rate, muscle activity, and even eye movement—all through built-in sensors. Their latest AirPods Pro 2 already function as hearing aids, but these new patents suggest a deeper push into neurotech surveillance.

While just a patent for now, this technology could pave the way for brain-computer interfaces embedded in everyday devices. What does this mean for privacy?

This clip comes from my report, How Big Tech Plans to Read Your Mind.

⚡️ The Internet of Bodies: A RAND Corporation Prediction @takebackourtech

In 2020, the RAND Corporation—a powerful U.S. think tank—released a report on the Internet of Bodies. RAND has a history of predicting technological shifts before they happen, influencing defense, health, and societal trends.

When groups like this publish reports, pay attention—because whether by design or coincidence, industry tends to follow their forecasts.

This clip comes from my report, How Big Tech Plans to Read Your Mind.

⚡️Charging Your Water with Water Smacker
@takebackourtech

At the Conscious Life Expo in LA, I had the chance to speak with Andrew Makky of Hydrogen Garage about the Water Smacker—a fascinating device that charges water with non-hertzian energy from space.

This static, lightning-like energy, also called ether or orgone energy, builds up over a few days, creating highly energized water.

Why would you want to drink this charged water? Learn more about the science and potential benefits in our conversation.

⚡️macOS 15 and iOS 18 Is Scanning All Your Photos for Landmarks and Indexing Them in a Database
@takebackourtech

If you're using a Mac or iPhone running the latest software, your photos have been scanned by a new feature: "Enhanced Visual Search". This feature was automatically rolled out and users automatically opted-in.

The only mention of this feature was on Apple's legal notice for photos:
Enhanced Visual Search in Photos allows you to search for photos using landmarks or points of interest. Your device privately matches places in your photos to a global index Apple maintains on our servers. We apply homomorphic encryption and differential privacy, and use an OHTTP relay that hides IP address. This prevents Apple from learning about the information in your photos. You can turn off Enhanced Visual Search at any time on your iOS or iPadOS device by going to Settings > Apps > Photos. On Mac, open Photos and go to Settings > General.

This applies to any and all photos stored on the device, not just the ones uploaded to iCloud, and as soon as the update is installed the feature is activated - before you even start to use the search feature. You had no choice in the matter.

But don't worry - Apple didn't link the photos to your account or IP address - so forcing millions of people to automatically use this feature doesn't matter.

Just another example of how your tech owns you - not the other way around.

Back in September I launched the 45-day Exit and Build Challenge as a way to offer alternative solutions to voting in the US election, or being apathetic/black pilled and thinking all is hopeless.

Over 7 weeks I offered solutions in the areas of food, money, technology, education, and more as we explored how to apply the Exit and Build strategy from a holistic perspective. I first outlined this strategy in my 2020 book, How to Opt-Out of the Technocratic State, and since that time the concept has been adopted by many solutions-focused activists.

We received many positive responses and stories of people sharing how the challenge helped them incorporate the concept into their daily lives.

I am excited to announce that today we are launching the official 45-Day Exit and Build Challenge landing page so you can conveniently find all the videos, tips, and strategies from the challenge in one location!

Don't wait, get started today and see how your life is improved by taking charge of your future!

⚡️AI Generated Studio Ghibli
@takebackourtech

After OpenAI released a new image generator, users quickly realized that it could deliver high quality images with relatively unrestricted copyright filters.
Wonky fingers and weird background details are still present, but less so, making it harder to distinguish AI images from the real thing.

Users experimented with different cartoon styles, such as South ParkRick and Morty and The Simpsons, but Studio Ghibli proved the most popular, trending on X (Twitter).

Hayao Miyazaki, the director of Studio Ghibli famously condemned the use of AI generated images in his work.

“I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.”

When the programmers tell Miyazaki that their intent is to create a machine that can draw like a human, Miyazaki falls silent.

Later, the director can be seen musing on the emerging technology as he works, saying, “I feel like we are nearing the end times. We humans are losing faith in ourselves.”

https://www.forbes.com/sites/danidiplacido/2025/03/27/the-ai-generated-studio-ghibli-trend-explained/

We have always tried to avoid using AI-generated images in our content.

What do you think the future holds for artists and creatives? Do you agree with Miyazaki?

⚡️ Top US Security Officials Leave Signal and Venmo Accounts Exposed
@takebackourtech

You've seen Signal chats of Trump's war cabinets circulating widely - but more leaks have surfaced showing Venmo accounts belonging to Mike Waltz - National Security Adviser under Trump and other high ranking officials.

Last month Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth left his Venmo exposed.

Through a public Venmo profile, you could find hundreds of their associates - including military officers, lobbyists, and others - useful for foreign intelligence operations.

And more recently German newspaper Spiegel found passwords belonging to those officials.

Private contact details of the most important security advisers to U.S. President Donald Trump can be found on the internet. DER SPIEGEL reporters were able to find mobile phone numbers, email addresses and even some passwords belonging to the top officials.

To do so, the reporters used commercial people search engines along with hacked customer data that has been published on the web. Those affected by the leaks include National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

These credentials are still in use for things like Instagram, LinkedIn, and Dropbox.

Many in the technology and privacy community like to posture like the surveillance state knows absolutely everything about everyone - but events like this really make you second guess the level of competency at the highest levels.

⚡️ Utah Bans Becomes First State To Ban Fluoride In Public Water
@takebackourtech

Going into effect May 7th, Fluoride cannot be added to water systems in Utah.

Public awareness of Fluoride is at an all time high, and it seems the tide is changing in politics.

Will other states follow suit? Covered by CNN, NBC News and others - these articles don't mention the importance of the landmark EPA lawsuit where non-profits sued the EPA for not doing its job.

After expert testimony, the judge ruled Fluoridation was an unreasonable risk to the health of children and that the EPA should regulate it as such.

https://fluoridealert.org/key-topics/epa-lawsuit/

If more states remove Fluoride from their drinking water, it could be a massive turning point for the health of Americans. However, there's still a long way to go in improving overall water quality and health - I'm not drinking tap water anytime soon.

Browser Tracking: The Data You Can’t Control
@takebackourtech

Most mainstream web browsers are constantly "phoning home," collecting data you have no control over. Even if they're not selling your data outright, they’re using it to target you with ads—because they own the ad platforms.

Should your web browser be connecting to anything other than the website you're visiting? In our Web Browsing for Privacy Lovers webinar, we break down the problem and share real solutions.

⚡️Google & Roblox Target Gen Z with Immersive Ads In Video Games
@takebackourtech

I really wish this was an April fools joke, but Roblox just announced a new partnership with Google, which would enable advertisers to purchase “Immersive Ads” in the popular Roblox video game.

Roblox is a browser based game where players build & explore worlds with lego-like characters. Its estimated that Roblox has close to 80M daily active users. 58% of the users are assumed to be under 16 years old.

Now Gen Z-ers will be presented with “Immersive Ads” on in-game Billboards. They will also be able to pay for in-game purchases by watching these ads.

Worse yet, these ads will be associated with in-game rewards.
Rewarded Video ads enable users to opt in and watch up to 30-second full-screen video ads within immersive Roblox games and experiences. In return, users receive in-game benefits from the creators of these games and experiences, also known as the ad publishers. Early tests show an average completion rate over 80%, with select experiences seeing completion rates over 90%1 as users saw the value2 in rewards, such as power-ups or in-game currency, and considered these ads additive to their overall experience.

Roblox is partnering with some of the biggest consumer research firms to measure effectiveness of ads and brand impact. Some of the biggest names in the space will participate including DoubleVerify, Cint, Kantar, and Nieslen - who will quiz kids on how they felt about the ads.

If other gaming platforms implement this (and why wouldn’t they?), it would mean the death for online gaming and the invasion of surveillance infrastructure in these virtual worlds.

Read the announcement from Roblox.

I really hope all those folks who are increasingly relying on AI for research are fact checking the responses you receive. I've been warning since 2019 about the danger of relying on AI to give you the truth, in the same way people rely on Google search or Google Maps to tell you which turn to make.

I do not use AI for my research but I have tested it to see if it will give me accurate details about facts I already have. Numerous times it has offered fabricated ("hallucinated") quotes which upon inspection are not accurate. It's even named books (which are real), and page numbers, but when checking the claimed quotes are non-existent. The AI will fight to prove its claims but if you push it will ultimately admit to having "misspoke" etc.

This is not only bad for research but this is odd (and creepy) to see these bots displaying stubbornness.

Be careful what you believe and don't blindly trust AI.
