👊 Firefox Deletes Promise To Not Sell Personal Data

Firefox removed the following section from their FAQ:

Does Firefox sell your personal data?
Nope. Never have, never will. And we protect you from many of the advertisers who do. Firefox products are designed to protect your privacy. That's a promise.

The updated version:

Mozilla doesn't sell data about you (in the way that most people think about "selling data"), and we don't buy data about you. Since we strive for transparency, and the LEGAL definition of "sale of data" is extremely broad in some places, we've had to step back from making the definitive statements you know and love. We still put a lot of work into making sure that the data that we share with our partners (which we need to do to make Firefox commercially viable) is stripped of any identifying information, or shared only in the aggregate, or is put through our privacy preserving technologies (like OHTTP).

Really interesting article on the dark origins of the technocracy, and how a technocratic government would operate. Seems like we are closer than ever before

As someone who believes in the power of technology, its disturbing to see the technocratic vision of reducing human themes into a formulaic problem to be solved, which requires mass surveillance of a magnitude never seen before.

Technocracy, both then and now, is literally inhuman. It elevates technological development above morality. As Taylor made clear, “the system must be first.”

People like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos want to install a Technocracy and live in it—or at least make us live in it. Why? Do they hope we will all live “lives of abundance” under Technocracy? Or do they envisage themselves as elitist members of Continental Control, with a free hand to socially engineer the rest of us, whom they view as a herd of “human animals”?

I don't believe in a nationwide revolution and I prefer an individual, personal liberation and living as an example for others.

Why? Because there is no way to "win" without using coercion and force to maintain the revolution. We've seen it throughout history.

If you believe you are a liberator (as many currently think Trump and Musk are) you will inevitably force your way on some portion of the population which wants something different.

Most revolutions have handled the "counter-revolutionaries" with lawfare, violence, imprisonment, and then murder. I don't see how you can maintain "the revolution" otherwise.

And, as far as so-called "political revolutions" go, the aforementioned use of force and coercion on some portion of the population applies again. How can you achieve your radical goals without barreling forward and making change regardless of what your opponents say?

In fact, I am seeing Elon Musk tweet in favor of El Salvador's Bukele removing judges he claimed were corrupt, and then forcing his "positive" change.

I am not even commenting about the nature of his changes or the quality of the judges. I am simply saying that to do something so extreme you will force your way on some of the populace.

I do not support these extreme measures by heads of state because of the historic evidence and likelihood that this power will be exploited and eventually used against the population as a whole.

A president or a prime minister etc should not have the power to unilaterally act and remove judges, or change laws, or ignore courts.

I am no constitutionalist but whatever system is in place should be used to limit these positions from becoming dictators and tyrants.

In fact, I am an Voluntaryist/Anarchist and this is why I said I prefer a personal, individual revolution. Each person changing their actions and habits to participate as little as possible with these systems and lessen dependence on them. Pushing back against power when necessary and focusing on building parallel systems outside of these corrupted ones. Leading by example.

That is the real evolution and the more of us who do this and lead by example we will inspire more and more people to reject believe and support of tyrants and focus on claiming their own self ownership and extending that out to all life.

‘Startup Nation’ Groups Say They’re Meeting Trump Officials to Push for Deregulated ‘Freedom Cities’

"Several groups representing “startup nations”—tech hubs exempt from the taxes and regulations that apply to the countries where they are located—are drafting Congressional legislation to create “freedom cities” in the US that would be similarly free from certain federal laws, WIRED has learned.

According to interviews and presentations viewed by WIRED, the goal of these cities would be to have places where anti-aging clinical trials, nuclear reactor startups, and building construction can proceed without having to get prior approval from agencies like the Food and Drug Administration, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Trey Goff, the chief of staff of the startup nation known as Próspera, tells WIRED that he and other Próspera representatives working under an advocacy group called the Freedom Cities Coalition have been meeting with the Trump administration about the idea in recent weeks. He claims the administration has been very receptive. In 2023, Trump floated the idea of creating 10 freedom cities. Now, Goff says that Próspera’s vision is to create “not just 10, but as many as the market can handle.” They hope to have drafted legislation ready by the end of the year.

Freedom Cities Coalition was created by an entity called NeWay Capital LLC, which owns several trademarks for Próspera. Since opening on the Honduran island of Roatán in 2020, Próspera has been attracting tech workers and startups by promising low taxes, few regulations, and a businesslike government that considers its citizens to be akin to customers. Its financiers include Pronomos Capital, a venture capital firm backed by Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen, and Coinbase."
