We've been positively surprised by the developments in Syria since the 8th of December 2024.

What we've been focusing on is to keep the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria, but we also keep reminding of some of the principles about inclusive government and transitional justice.

Having myself served in Syria before the war and during the beginning of the war, I know how much that the question of citizenship was an issue for the Kurdish population there. There seems to be a good development.

We want to encourage the very positive stuff we've seen by the new Syrian transitional government and try to help them as much as we can as a council.

We don't want to see another failed state in the Levant, and we're happy for the Syrian people that there seems to be a different way forward right now.

The Danish and Greenlandic governments have consistently rejected the American ambition to take over Greenland. There is a diplomatic track that we have now agreed on.

We, of course, want to address completely legitimate American concerns about security in the Arctic or the higher north while respecting Danish and Greenlandic red lines.

The Kingdom of Denmark's red lines are respect for our territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for the Greenlandic government, it's about respect for the Greenlandic people's right to self-determination.

There are ships moving through the Straits. There is oil moving right now through the Straits.

The Straits are open.

There's a conversation and a negotiation that we are involved in between Oman and Iran on how more ships can be able to go through the Strait of Hormuz safely in the short term as we move towards these longer-term talks about denuclearization.

There has been progress in talks to reopen the strait, but no final agreement has been reached yet.

We're hoping that will happen very shortly.

It's a process; I mean, they have to happen. Obviously, there's a lot of work that has to happen to lay the groundwork for an election.

I think it's going to require some persistence and a little bit of patience. Not years, but certainly months and weeks.

It's going to take some time to get there. And you're dealing with a system that's been in place now for almost three decades. So it's not going to be from one day to the next.

It was my Honor to welcome now Senator Darline Graham Nordone (The sister of the Late, Great Lindsey Graham!), from the Wonderful State of South Carolina, into the Oval Office.
