The United States is always committed to diplomacy. We are open-minded and always willing to engage in negotiated settlements of differences, and that remains true in the case of Iran.

Iran has been reaching out to the United States, both directly and indirectly, to engage in talks about settling the differences with regard to what's happening in that part of the world.

Unfortunately, so far, even though we have reached agreements, they have not kept their commitments.

As President Trump stated earlier, the problem we're having right now is that they're not serious about talks. If they're serious, we're serious.

Iran demands the right, which they do not have under any existing legal mechanism, to control the transit of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. This is an international waterway.

If we create a precedent in the Middle East where a nation-state can decide that they are going to control an international waterway, charge a toll, and if you don't pay them, they blow up your ships, we have created a very dangerous precedent which will repeat itself in other parts of the world, including in this region.

So what is at stake here is not simply the issue of what's happening in the Strait of Hormuz. It's a very fundamental principle about freedom of navigation. And if that is threatened, then I think the global economy is threatened, and the rules that have underpinned 150 years of international trade and commerce are also threatened. And that cannot be allowed to happen.

The United States remains open and willing to engage in positive, constructive negotiations and talks, so long as the commitments that are made are kept.

When those commitments are not kept, which is what's happened in this particular case, then there will be consequences, and that has to happen.

If these consequences did not exist, then today we would be living in a world where the significant percentage of the energy supply of this region and 20 percent of the energy supply of the world are being held hostage by a rogue regime.

The development of ASEAN is also in the interest of the United States.

This is not charity. This is not something we're doing because we're nice people.

Although I believe we are nice people. But it's in our national interest, and we will never abandon it.

The results have been very clear. The regime has been eviscerated militarily, financially, politically, in every possible way.

They and everyone watching around the world are learning a clear lesson about America and President Trump.

When it comes to President Trump's strategy against Iran, he's made it clear that he'll consider and pursue any and every option necessary to achieve America's objective of ending the Iranian nuclear threat once and for all.

The Iranian regime does not understand anything but strength.

They are used to a very simple, repeatable pattern, which is that they make a deal, they break a deal, they push, and then the West backs down, other nations in the region back down.

They have met President Trump, a leader of the world's number one superpower who has finally broken that cycle and is learning that when you violate your deal with Trump, you pay a price beyond anything you can imagine.

If the regime keeps choosing the path of conflict, they aren't going to have the capability of being able to wage war, nor will they have an economy to support a war machine. That's the choice they face. It's never been clearer.

The comments came after reports that Iranian forces had shot down a Tiguar M drone manufactured by Polish company uAvionics a few days ago, which has not publicly confirmed the claims.

"I always advise caution in these types of situations. There are many companies producing drones in Poland, but the Polish state is not the author of such actions," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

The war in Ukraine has impeded the ability of Russia and the U.S. to find areas of agreement on other topics.

We think it would be good for Russia if that war came to an end.

The U.S. remains open and willing to play a constructive role in bringing that war to an end.

China has been clear that they don't support any tolling or restrictions on global shipping through international waterways.

A statement like that from a country like China is important.

The Houthis threatened global shipping in the past. This is not a new threat. We've been engaged with the Saudis a number of times over the last week in regard to that threat.

Iran is in the middle of it. Iran is the troublemaker.

They decided to send direct flights from Tehran into Yemen, carrying IRGC elements and others into the country. And the Saudis responded to it. And that's what's led to the situation we're now facing.
