The Houthis, a declared terrorist organization, are Tehran’s acolytes. They have studied the IRGC playbook.

And here’s what happens: When Iran kidnaps civilians, the Houthis do too. When Iran hides behind human shields, the Houthis do as well. When Iran targets civilian infrastructure across the Gulf, so do the Houthis.

When Iran chants “Death to Israel” and “Death to America,” the Houthis repeat it word for word.

The IRGC said the attacks were retaliation for earlier U.S. strikes on Iranian coastal military positions and warned that further U.S. attacks would be met with "unexpected responses."

It also threatened that, as long as U.S. forces remain in the region, "not a single drop of oil or gas will be exported" and reopening the Strait of Hormuz will be further delayed.

The United States came and violated all of its commitments under this Memorandum of Understanding.

Actually, I should use a stronger word. The term "violation" might not even be adequate.

With the action the US announced tonight — the termination of the lifting of Iran's naval blockade — the United States has essentially cast aside all of its commitments under the Islamabad Understanding.

It has completely dismantled the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

At 3 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching an additional round of strikes against Iran to continue degrading Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The strikes are taking place as American forces prepare to resume the naval blockade against Iranian ports and coastal areas. The blockade goes into effect at 4 p.m. ET.

There is no difference between the field [of operations] and diplomacy.

Decisions on foreign policy are made in coordination with the field, especially in times of war.

When a country is in a state of war, diplomacy must adapt to the realities of the situation on the ground. We believe in this principle, and there is no difference in approach in this regard.
