🇦🇱🇺🇸⚡️ — Albanian prosecutors suspect a Miami-based businessman of using forged property deeds to claim land later sold for the controversial multi-billion-dollar resort project backed by Jared Kushner, according to case files reviewed by Reuters.

Albania's anti-corruption and organized crime agency SPAK alleges Artur Shehu and associates trafficked South American cocaine into Europe and laundered the proceeds through real estate, including by creating false property titles and artificially expanding land holdings.

Shehu sold the Albanian coastal land intended for the Kushner-backed resort for around €110 million, but prosecutors have frozen the funds in a notary account, preventing him from receiving the money. SPAK said there are "reasonable suspicions" the assets were acquired using forged documents.

The files make no allegations of wrongdoing against Kushner, the resort developers, or other investors, and Reuters found no evidence they were aware of suspicions surrounding Shehu when the land was purchased.

Shehu denies all allegations, with his lawyer insisting he is "neither a drug trafficker nor a forger of property documents" and claiming his family has owned the land since the Ottoman era.
