No ceasefire in Lebanon.

The negotiations with the Lebanese government will begin in the coming days.

NATO countries are now looking for what they can do to contribute to make sure that the Strait of Hormuz stays open.

This alliance is not whistling past the graveyard, as you would say in the United States.

Allies recognize, and I recognize, we are in a period of profound change in the Transatlantic Alliance.

Europe is assuming a greater and fairer share of the task of providing for its conventional defense, and from that there will be no going back, nor should there be.

This is a move from unhealthy codependence to a transatlantic alliance grounded in true partnership.

When the time came to provide logistical and other support the United States needed in Iran, some allies were a bit slow, to say the least. In fairness, they were also somewhat surprised.

To maintain the element of surprise for the initial strikes, President Trump opted not to inform allies ahead of time, and I understand that.

But what I see when I look across Europe today is allies providing a massive amount of support, basing, logistics, and other measures to ensure the powerful US military succeeds in denying Iran a nuclear weapon and degrading its capacity to export chaos.

Nearly without exception, allies are doing everything the United States is asking.

I clearly felt Trump’s disappointment; I understand it to a certain extent.

I know there are those who pleaded to continue the negotiating track, but hey listen, we know what happened with North Korea.

There can be a moment where you've negotiated so long that guess what, North Korea got its hands on the nuclear capability, and then it is too late.

Reporter: Do you still consider Trump "daddy" after yesterday?

Mark Rutte: Well, on the "daddy" issue — this is really a language problem.

Now, we had a sort of pre-summit meeting, the president and I, in June in The Hague. And he had been very angry that day with Iran and with Israel. In Dutch, you would say that the translation of "your father" is "daddy." And I said, well, yes—sometimes a "daddy" has to be angry.

So I was not calling him my daddy. Of course, "daddy" also has a special connotation.

And I now have to live with this the rest of my life. And I own it, and the president owns it because he bought our T-shirts; he made a movie, "Daddy is Home..." This was so funny, and this is why I like him so much.

A couple of countries are holding back on Ukraine’s entry into NATO, including Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, and the United States.

I don’t think it is on the table right now.

I do not think that Ukraine’s NATO membership can be resolved in the short term.

I don’t think it will happen politically anytime soon — that is my fair assessment.

If China were to move against Taiwan, why not first call your junior partner in all of this, which is Vladimir Putin, residing in Moscow, and ask him to keep us busy here?

Most likely it will not be limited to something in the Indo-Pacific. It will be a multi-theater issue.

A region-wide ceasefire, incl in Lebanon, would hasten his jailing.

If the U S. wishes to crater its economy by letting Netanyahu kill diplomacy, that would ultimately be its choice. We think that would be dumb but are prepared for it.

We do not believe in separating the field from diplomacy at all; we have only one field, which is the field of defending the rights of the Iranian people.

These rights are either realized through military struggle or through diplomatic struggle.

We can use both military and diplomatic tools to force them to pay Iran's rights.

The historic retreat of the U.S. and acceptance of the general principles of Iran's 10-article plan, although an undeniable victory, we consider this victory an incomplete step.

Past experiences have shown us that we must have complete distrust of the enemy.

Acceptance of Iran's 10-article plan in negotiations did not lead to a result; rather, it was an exchange of texts.

From now on, if the U.S. does not continue to violate its commitments, we may enter into negotiations.

They’re much more reasonable… they’re agreeing to what they have to. Remember, they’ve been conquered. They have no military.

If they don’t make a deal, it’s going to be very painful.

The Israelis are scaling back their operations in Lebanon. I spoke with Bibi and he’s going to low-key it. I just think we have to be sort of a little more low-key.
