The Israelis have actually offered to frankly check themselves a little bit in Lebanon because they want to make sure that our negotiation is successful.

That's not because that is part of the ceasefire. I think that's the Israelis trying to set us up for success. We'll, of course, see how that unfolds in the next few days.

If Iran wants to let this negotiation fall apart in a conflict where they were getting hammered over Lebanon, which has nothing to do with them and which the United States never once said was part of the ceasefire, that's ultimately their choice. We think that would be dumb, but that's their choice.

The Iranians have got to take the next step, or President Trump has a lot of options to go back to the war.

President Trump has talked about sanctions relief. He has also talked about economic partnerships and things like that.

But that’s not going to happen unless the Iranians make a firm commitment to stop anything close to the development of a nuclear weapon.

President Trump has all the cards. We have a lot of leverage and a lot of things we can do.

First of all, he said that there are a few points of disagreement before the negotiation. Well, that must mean that there are a lot of points of agreement because there's a 15-point plan and a 10-point plan floating around.

If he's frustrated about three issues, that actually means that there's a lot of agreement.

I actually wonder how good he is at understanding English, because there are things that he said that frankly did not make sense in the context of the negotiations we had.

He talked about an attack that allegedly happened on Iran and how that was a violation of the ceasefire. Ceasefires are always messy. This is the nature of a ceasefire.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf said, "We refuse to give up the right to enrichment."

And I thought to myself: my wife has the right to skydive, but she doesn’t jump out of an airplane because we have an agreement that she’s not going to do that—I don’t want my wife jumping out of an airplane.

We don’t really concern ourselves with what they claim they have the right to do; we concern ourselves with what they actually do.

The first 10-point proposal was something that was submitted, and we frankly think it was probably written by ChatGPT. It was submitted to Witkoff and Kushner.

That immediately went into the garbage and was rejected.

There was a second 10-point proposal that was much more reasonable. It was based on some back-and-forth between us, the Pakistanis, and the Iranians. That is the proposal the president was referencing, and it’s true as of yesterday.

And then, frankly, I’ve seen a third 10-point proposal that’s even more maximalist than the first one that’s been floating around various social media channels.

I actually think that [the situation with Lebanon] is a reasonable misunderstanding.

Neither we nor the Israelis said that Lebanon was going to be part of the ceasefire.

We stand with all our might alongside the Hezbollah mujahideen, and we will punish the Zionist enemy.

The responsibility for the collapse of the ceasefire lies with America, which either does not want to or cannot leash its rabid dog.

Violations of the ceasefire by America will also not be tolerated.

I spoke today with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump.

I told both of them that their decision to accept a ceasefire was the best possible one.

I expressed my hope that the ceasefire will be fully respected by each of the belligerents, across all areas of confrontation, including in Lebanon. This is a necessary condition for the ceasefire to be credible and lasting.

It must open the way to comprehensive negotiations capable of ensuring security for all in the Middle East.

Any agreement will have to address the concerns raised by Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as its regional policy and its actions obstructing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

This is how a strong and lasting peace can be built, with the support of all those who are able to contribute to it. France will play its full part, in close coordination with its partners in the Middle East.

This is also what I discussed today in my exchanges with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Iraq.
