Another year of the GOLDEN AGE.

I became Prime Minister because I believe that we can make this country even better. I have done my best to do so.

At the same time, times have become completely different than I had imagined. First corona. Then war in Europe. Now again the conflict over Greenland — over the Kingdom.

Some of the criticism of me is justified. And I take it to heart. I have been concerned that together we will get Denmark and Europe through a difficult time. But along the way, I have not always listened properly to you.

We have not done enough in relation to the high food prices, increasing inequality, and the kids that are not thriving.

It has to be different. And that is my responsibility.

There are some who are currently stealing childhood from our children: the tech giants.

They need to be regulated more strictly. And the owners of the social media platforms? They have made billions at the expense of other people. Especially our children.

It is time for them to start paying back. So that their enormous fortunes are also invested in the well-being of children and young people. Not just in Denmark, but throughout Europe.

I will put myself in charge of that work.

This year the government will also present a comprehensive deportation reform. It will mean that even more criminal foreigners will be sent out of Denmark.

But let me say this first: to those of you who have embraced Denmark. And who we need in our society.

You can be a Dane, even if your favorite food is not frikadeller. Or mackerel for that matter.

We Danes do not look the same. Nor should we. But we must love each other.

And in Denmark it is the case that when democracy and religion collide, then it is God who has the right of way.

To the people who have come here and are committing crimes:

You should not be here.

We do not want your reckless driving and culture of domination.

You are destroying the most beautiful country in the world. And you won't be allowed to do that.

No one can understand why an Iraqi man who has been convicted of brutally assaulting an innocent person with a golf club cannot be deported.

Or why a previously convicted man from Kosovo who has been convicted of abusing his children and spouse for several years can be allowed to stay here.

The government is therefore proposing that foreigners be deported if they commit a serious crime and are sentenced to at least one year in prison. Regardless of their connection to Denmark.

This makes it a very clear starting point that if you are convicted of, for example, rape, aggravated assault, or other serious crime. Then you are finished being in Denmark.

Thanks to a strict Danish immigration policy — and where we go to the edge of conventions — we already deport many criminal foreigners.

We are in the process of strengthening Danish defense and preparedness.

Never before have we increased our armaments so significantly and quickly.

We will continue to support Ukraine.

To some, this may seem like a distant conflict. But things are connected.

Let one country fall first. Then the way is paved for Russia to move further into Europe.

We are also strengthening security in the Arctic. The Danish Kingdom is large in geography and small in population.

In the past year, we have had to listen to a lot — threats, pressure, derogatory speech. From our closest allies (the U.S.) for a lifetime.

Talks about wanting to take over another country, another people. As if it were something you could buy and own — it does not belong anywhere.

We are taking on our responsibility in the world. We are not looking for conflict.

But let no one be in any doubt: No matter what happens. We will stand firm on what is right and wrong.

Zohran Mamdani will be the first Muslim mayor of our great city.

He will be our first immigrant mayor in over a century, and he will be the youngest mayor of New York City in generations.

Most importantly, Zohran will be a mayor for all of us.

You took on the Democratic establishment, the Republican establishment, the President of the United States, and some enormously wealthy oligarchs — and you defeated them in the biggest political upset in modern American history.

You showed the world the most important lesson that can be learned today: when working people stand together, when we don't let them divide us, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

China’s military activities and rhetoric toward Taiwan and others in the region increase tensions unnecessarily.

We urge Beijing to exercise restraint, cease its military pressure against Taiwan, and instead engage in meaningful dialogue.

The United States supports peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and opposes unilateral changes to the status quo, including by force or coercion.
