🇺🇸🇷🇺🇧🇾🇲🇩 The funding cuts to USAID have caused a significant crisis for opposition groups in Russia, Belarus and Moldova.

A strongly affected group is Kovcheg, a group helping Russians fleeing abroad to find shelter, legal and psychological support and training, which said it has lost 30% of its budget as a result of the USAID cut. Meanwhile in Minsk, at least 60-80 groups are facing layoffs and are due to suspend their programs or shut down their operations. Finally, a Moldovan NGO called Promo-LEX Association said USAID funds account for about 75-80% of its projects, which include monitoring elections, political financing and parliamentary oversight, therefore it is very likely to suspend operations.

Russian and Belarusian authorities praised the decision.
