🇶🇦🕊🇮🇱🇵🇸 — Israel-Hamas ceasefire begins on Sunday, January 19, 2025 AD, when first hostages are due to be released, Prime-Minister of Qatar says

➡️ According to the Prime-Minister, the ceasefire is temporary.

➡️ It will transition into a permanent truce if and when all the required steps and requirements are achieved.

➡️ The first phase will be a 43 days ceasefire.

➡️ During the agreement, 33 Israeli hostages will be released, Qatar, Egypt and the US will work to ensure the implementation of the agreement.

🇮🇱🕊🇵🇸 — Some details and clarifications:

➡️ It is a hostage deal, NOT an end of war deal.

➡️ Phase I allows for the release of 33 hostages; it is not clear how many are alive, but some reports suggest 23.

➡️ Again, the ceasefire is almost certainly temporary, it will last for 43 days. It is not a permanent end to the war.

➡️ As noted by analysts, Phase II is highly unlikely ever to materialize given how many hostages Hamas retains and given that Hamas will never disarm or agree to exile.

➡️ The deal does not force Israel to alter deployment along the Philadelphi Corridor (border between Gaza and Egypt).
