Back then 3 Para (SF) was a Para (Regular/Reg) unit and was organized like a regular para unit i.e it had 4 Para Companies (A,B,C and D)
Before being a Para unit, 3 Para was a regular infantry unit from Kumaon regiment, hence post conversion to Parachute Regiment, 3 Para was also known as 3 Para (Kumaon).
3 para was converted to SF in early 2000s by Col. BS Sambyal (later Brigadier, originally from 9 Para SF)
