🇺🇸Former President Jimmy Carter, who died yesterday, criticized the United States for its constant wars and advised Trump to end them.

Carter, who once initiated détente between America and China, wrote a letter to President Trump in 2019 outlining his views on the China issue (Trump was using harsh anti-Chinese rhetoric at the time).

Following this letter, the current president called the former, and they had a conversation that Carter himself later recounted to the parishioners of his home church (Carter was an active Baptist).

He said Trump complained to him that China was "getting ahead of us."

"And you know why?" Carter said. "I normalized diplomatic relations with China in 1979. Did you know that since 1979, China has been at war with anyone? None. And we have remained at war," he said (note that China and Vietnam did fight a brief border war in early 1979).

Carter also said the United States is "the most belligerent country in the history of the world" because of its desire to impose American values ​​on other countries, and suggested that China was putting its resources into projects such as high-speed rail rather than into defense spending.

"How many miles of high-speed rail do we have in this country?" Carter asked. "Zero," the congregation responded.

"I think we've wasted three trillion dollars," Carter said, referring to American military spending.

“China hasn’t spent a dime on war, and so they’re ahead of us. In almost every way. And I think the difference is that if you took $3 trillion and you put it into American infrastructure, you’d probably have $2 trillion left over. We’d have high-speed rail. We’d have bridges that don’t collapse. We’d have roads that are maintained. Our education system would be as good as, say, South Korea or Hong Kong,” the former president added.

It should be noted that Donald Trump also regularly positions himself as a president under whom America does not wage wars, but ends them. He promised to end the war in Ukraine, and, according to Western media, this has become his most frequently repeated promise over the past year.
