Anthropic рассказала, как Claude докопался до происхождения параметров эллиптических кривых NIST, которые используются в криптографии.
Эти параметры опубликовали ещё в 90-х, но как именно их получили толком никто не знал. Из-за этого годами ходили подозрения, что NSA могло оставить в них бэкдор. Claude покопался в числах и предположил, что при генерации использовался старый генератор псевдослучайных чисел lrand48. В итоге удалось восстановить начальное состояние генератора и связать его с Unix-временем в 1997 году.
Разумеется, это не означает, что Claude взломал ECDSA или нашёл универсальный способ подделывать подписи. Речь о происхождении параметров кривых, а не о компрометации самой криптографии.
Ракрыли не всё, происхождение некоторых параметров по-прежнему остаётся загадкой.
