PwnEscape - уязвимости в сетевом стеке ядре Linux, позволяющая обойти изоляцию гипервизоров и контейнеров

В ядре Linux выявлена критическая уязвимость (CVE-2026-99999, PwnEscape) в стеке IPv4, позволяющая получить доступ к памяти хост-окружения из гостевой системы. При эксплуатации уязвимости пользователь гостевой системы может выполнить код с правами ядра на стороне хост-окружения. Эксплуатация уязвимости продемонстрирована в окружении на базе гипервизора KVM, но так как уязвимость вызвана ошибкой не в гипервизоре, а в механизме обработки сетевых пакетов ядром Linux, потенциально эксплоит может быть адаптирован и для других гипервизоров и механизмов изоляции, в которых используется штатный сетевой стек Linux.

Фреймворк сфокусирован на максимальной производительности, работе с неуправляемой памятью и разработан специально для симуляторов со сложной архитектурой. Он уже послужил основой для нового движка Waylith в популярной игре RimWorld от Ludeon, помогая ей уйти от Unity. Outlook Classic’s November redesign is only the first of more visual changes

Microsoft plans to refresh Outlook Classic for Windows starting in early November, updating icons, spacing, and alignment to bring it closer to New Outlook. Microsoft says the first changes won’t alter workflows, but calls them the start of an ongoing series of improvements across Outlook. No opt-out or preview screenshots have been announced.

Windows 11 KB5127654 updates WinRE on 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2

Microsoft’s October 13 dynamic updates include KB5127654, which improves the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) on Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2. The updates also cover Windows 10 recovery and Windows setup components, and Microsoft says they install automatically through Windows Update.

Джейк Арчибальд (Jake Archibald), участвующий в разработке Firefox, провёл исследование, в котором сравнил форматы JPEG XL и AVIF, используя стандартный кодек libavif, стандартный кодек libjxl и новый кодек jixel, написанный на Rust и задействованный в Firefox и Chrome. Форматы тестировались в одинаковых условиях, которые включали кодирование с потерями, а для анализа результатов использовались показатели SSIMULACRA2, определяющие степень отличия от исходного изображения без потерь. В большинстве тестов формат AVIF показал лучшие результаты и при аналогичном уровне качества позволял создавать файлы меньшего размера, которые требовали меньше процессорного времени для сжатия и распаковки.
