Доступен неофициальный порт игры Космические рейнджеры для Linux

Разработан кросс-платформенный порт игры "Космические рейнджеры HD: Революция", реализованный с использованием библиотеки SDL и компилятора Free Pascal. Порт основан на восстановленных исходных кодах, полученных путём декомпиляции и при сборке, позволяющие сформировать исполняемый файл, байт в байт совпадающий с оригинальным Rangers.exe. При разработке использовались AI-агенты. Код опубликован под лицензией MIT. Сборки формируются для Linux, Android и Windows.

Началось тестирование 64-разрядной версии клиента Steam для Linux

Компания Valve опубликовала бета-версию обновлённого клиента сервиса доставки игр Steam для Linux. Выпуск примечателен формированием 64-разрядных сборок и переходом к выполнению клиента Steam внутри контейнера со Steam Runtime. Изменение существенно упрощает организацию работы Steam в дистрибутивах Linuх. До сих пор клиент Steam распространялся только в 32-разрядных сборках, что мешало дистрибутивам полностью прекратить поддержку 32-разрядных CPU и вынуждало специально для Steam поставлять необходимые 32-разрядные зависимости или упаковывать Steam в самодостаточные пакеты в форматах snap и flatpak.

PwnEscape Linux flaw leaks host memory from guest VMs

The KVM guest-to-host escape Vercel had confirmed while its technical details were unknown is now identified as PwnEscape, CVE-2026-99999. The Linux networking flaw can leak host memory, crash a host or—in researcher-controlled tests—execute code on it. The fix must be applied to the host kernel, not just guest systems.

Fastfetch 2.70 changes disk reporting and breaks older configs

Fastfetch 2.70.0 changes how disk space is reported and removes configuration options that older setups may rely on. On Windows, it now reports full volume capacity by default for quota-limited volumes. The October 14 release also changes command output capture, removes QuickJS, and adds Android detection features.

PwnEscape - уязвимости в сетевом стеке ядре Linux, позволяющая обойти изоляцию гипервизоров и контейнеров

В ядре Linux выявлена критическая уязвимость (CVE-2026-99999, PwnEscape) в стеке IPv4, позволяющая получить доступ к памяти хост-окружения из гостевой системы. При эксплуатации уязвимости пользователь гостевой системы может выполнить код с правами ядра на стороне хост-окружения. Эксплуатация уязвимости продемонстрирована в окружении на базе гипервизора KVM, но так как уязвимость вызвана ошибкой не в гипервизоре, а в механизме обработки сетевых пакетов ядром Linux, потенциально эксплоит может быть адаптирован и для других гипервизоров и механизмов изоляции, в которых используется штатный сетевой стек Linux.

BRUTAL Framework — низкоуровневый фреймворк с открытым исходным кодом на языке C#. Он предоставляет прямой доступ к нативным API и Vulkan. Фреймворк сфокусирован на максимальной производительности, работе с неуправляемой памятью и разработан специально для симуляторов со сложной архитектурой. Он уже послужил основой для нового движка Waylith в популярной игре RimWorld от Ludeon, помогая ей уйти от Unity. Кроме того он используется в разработке игры Kitten Space Agency (KSA), духовного наследника легендарной Kerbal Space Program.

Outlook Classic’s November redesign is only the first of more visual changes

Microsoft plans to refresh Outlook Classic for Windows starting in early November, updating icons, spacing, and alignment to bring it closer to New Outlook.
