📰 Linux Patches Finally Make Hibernation Possible In Secure Boot / Lockdown Mode

When booting the Linux kernel using UEFI SecureBoot, the kernel is put in the lockdown mode to restrict the ability to modify the running kernel image or leaking data from kernel memory. Kernel lockdown mode can also be manually enabled by the user/administrator. Among the limitations imposed in Linux's lockdown mode is no hibernation support. But that soon may be relieved with new patches proposed...

Anthropic warns small AI models could soon replicate across IoT devices

Anthropic’s tests found that GLM-5.2 could autonomously spread across nearly an entire simulated network, while a 9-billion-parameter model set up inference on eight of nine hardware types. The experiments point to a potential AI worm that could use poorly secured IoT devices for compute; Anthropic estimates small models may reach the capabilities needed for end-to-end replication by the end of 2026.

The multi-OS NexPhone went up for pre-order at the start of 2026, 14 years later than initially planned. Fitting, then, to hear the handset’s arrival has been delayed until 2027. Nex Computer CEO Emre Kosmaz says devices won’t begin shipping until March 2027 because of issues with antenna and housing. For those not familiar, the NexPhone is a mid-range smartphone touting a multiOS system of Android 16, Debian (as an Android app) and Windows 11 on ARM. Back in 2012, when it was first conceived, it would’ve run Ubuntu as its Linux flavour. Given that it took 14 years for […]

Windows 11 Insider builds 7 October 2026: New Windows Search, Cloud rebuild, IAKerb

Microsoft has shipped fresh Windows 11 Insider Preview builds to the Beta and Experimental channels, covering the 26H1 and Future Platforms tracks. On Experimental, Windows Search has been rebuilt on WinUI 3 and adds inline actions so you can change system settings straight from the search box. Beta picks up Cloud rebuild, a WinRE recovery path that reinstalls Windows from Windows Update. The Experimental channel also enables IAKerb by default to reduce NTLM fallback. Widgets, Task Manager, Narrator, and File Explorer see smaller updates.

Whisper.cpp 1.9.5

исправлена утечка памяти в функции read_audio_data;
выполнена инициализация по умолчанию для whisper_mel, чтобы избежать чтения неинициализированной памяти;
llama.cpp обновлён до версии 0.6.0;

Security researchers have published a full working exploit for a pre-authentication remote code execution flaw in AnyDesk Linux that gives attackers root access before anyone approves the connection.AnyDesk patched the flaw in version 8.0.3 in June, but its changelog described the fix only as "fixed a bug that could lead to a crash," with no CVE assigned and no security.
